Prime example of why WE stay away from corrugated drain installs 😎
What you’re looking at here is an underground corrugated drain line that has collapsed, deformed and failed over time.
Flexible corrugated pipe can lose its shape from soil pressure, improper bedding, roots, traffic or simply poor installation. Once the pipe gets crushed like this, you lose the proper flow area and water can no longer move through the system the way it was designed to.
The ribbed interior also gives sediment and debris more places to collect, making an already damaged line even more prone to restrictions and backups.
This is why we prefer rigid, smooth wall PVC for our solid drainage runs. It holds grade better, maintains its shape underground, provides a smoother path for water and is much easier to service and clean in the future.
Corrugated has its applications, but unless a client specifically requests it, PVC is our go to.
