Tim Lyons, principal of Colorado By Design, was inspired to be a custom builder while working as an apprentice for a small custom builder in Southern Ohio. What started as a way to pay for a college education turned into a life long passion. By seeking challenges and responsibilities Tim moved from his entry level position to working in the many facets of the custom building process. Through hands

on experience and study Tim gained a greater understanding of the many stages of residential building. The understanding of the fundamentals and nuances of residential building has helped Tim weave the practical aspects of custom building with the aesthetics, visions, and dreams of the homeowners with whom he works with. For over 35 years Tim has proved that honesty, innovation and a commitment to enduring quality is the right way to custom build.
