My kid made this in Laid out, cut and formed sheetmetal, spot welded and finished. He's been coming out and working with me on weekends, on his own initiative. Talking about the future and his opportunities Protect shop class or industrial arts (and music, extracurricular science, art, etc) in your schools if you still have it, fight to bring it back if you've lost it - regardless of whether you have kids

1880s house, door might be a little newer but it's had a long life. Getting the full treatment and will be good to go for another 150 years

This is such a great video that breaks down something often misunderstood. In our region much of the residential stock is a century+ old. A lot of it was built at least partially from masonry so this isn't always an issue, but when exploring repairs and renovations to your home, knowing how it was built and discussing how new work might affect that is important.

So I know a lot of my people are still tabletop gamers, and lots more of you are crafty. Popped into my real, local hardware store (first option whenever possible) and boom - they are now an official dealer. More importantly, all those specialty model paints and brushes you can't walk into a store and buy anymore? Now you can, so many colours and more coming each restock.

Experimenting with black finishes for a client, all red oak. L to R we have , transtint dye in acetone, and finally old school ebonizing with 0000 steel wool in 30% vinegar. Which do you like?

Delivered last week, charcuterie service station that folds down to a flat packed 2x4x10". Top is a custom butcher block made from hickory with cutouts for hotel pans. there's an aluminum clad hardwood rack under the top which will hold multiple ice trays as well, something missing from most of the cheap versions sold online

Not sure why this didn't get posted last fall. Got to build this custom sapele half screen door to fit a cool arched/peaked jamb. Also restored the original front door behind it including having the diamond pane glass window remade and reglazing. Plan was to leave the wood natural in appearance but will be going back soon to refinish to match the other door.

Definitely not a production cabinet shop, but a lot of my recent estimates have been for built-In casework. Figured I should put together a few door options that I can make in house so folks can see and feel better than looking at pictures. These are just checking dry fit and not yet profiled or sanded.
