We would like to introduce Jeff, Briggette, Amber and Chris!

Back in December it was just a normal day on the job for these four. However, Briggette unknowingly had walking pneumonia. She radioed in saying she felt dizzy, then she dropped to the ground. Briggette ended up having a heart attack right there on the jobsite.

Amber and Chris jumped into action letting Jeff know the situation but also kept traffic moving while tending to Briggette. Jeff immediately started giving Briggette CPR until the ambulance arrived. The doctors later said that if Jeff had not given Briggette CPR, she would have died.

“Because of my team and the confidence I had in them, I was able to just concentrate and focus on giving Briggette CPR knowing that they had everything under control. This is my A team right here” -Jeff

Because of Jeff, we are committed to getting as many people certified in CPR as possible. So far we have 95 certified and are working to hold many more classes. We are beyond proud to have these four apart of our team!

Safety is a high priority to us! At our safety committee meetings we review incidents, policies, and proper procedures to prevent any future incidents on the road, job, and field in an effort to keep our employees as safe as possible!

This weekend is the Tractor Pull, Truck Show, and Dirt Drags, and Truck Pull in Westminster Maryland. It is located at the Carroll County Ag Center April 26th and 27th. Plenty of good food and plenty of awesome vehicles to look at.

We taught the kids all about being a dump truck driver and some basic equipment and truck safety. We love getting the chance to inspire the next generation!

Meet Darby!

1. What is your current position and how long have you worked for us? Tell us about yourself: hobbies, interests, family life, etc.

I’m a Superintendent for M.T.Laney Co. and I’ve worked for M.T.Laney for 26 years. My hobbies are riding my motorcycle, doing BBQ and spending time with family and friends.


2. How did you get involved in our industry?

I’ve been involved in this industry since the age of 9 years old. I grew up in Hagerstown and worked with people to earn money.

3. What is your biggest accomplishment since working here?

My biggest accomplishment is that I was given the opportunity to prove to myself and to many others that I could do this as well as make something out of my life. I give many thanks to M.T. Laney Co for giving me this opportunity.

⭐️Team Member Spotlight⭐️

Meet Hagen!

1. What is your current position and how long have you worked for us? Tell us about yourself: hobbies, interests, family life, etc.

I am a QC supervisor with 23 years of service with M.T. Laney. I’m married to my wife JoAnn of 20 years, and we have a blended family with our four beautiful children. We are blessed with 1 Grandson, 1 Granddaughter due February 2024 and many furry babies. When I’m not working, I love to fish, boat, cook, NASCAR races and spending time with my family and friends.


2. How did you get involved in our industry?

I’ve been in the paving industry since I graduated from High school. I started out as a paving operator and loot man with other companies. When hired with this company, I began as a Paving Operator when there were only 80 employees. Being promoted to the Foreman’s position gave me the responsibility and insight of what goes into large paving jobs as a manager. After mastering the details of being a Foreman, I was promoted to QC Supervisor where I oversee each commercial and residential job for quality control. My expertise over the years has helped the company to save money on materials needed to meet all Federal and State inspection requirements so our company can be compensated in a timely manner. I possess many certifications including Hot Asphalt Mix, Safety, Tack Truck as well as Troxler Nuclear gauge.


3. What is your biggest accomplishment since working here?

I love working with all the staff and owners at M.T. Laney. The company has developed into a well-known corporation and it’s a wonderful place to work. I’ve been inspired and mentored by past family members who were in the industry, multiple employees with the company and Laney owners. I love to connect with the owners of the contracted jobs and with my co-workers to try and keep the daily operations flowing. I love working here and I highly recommend anyone interested in this trade to give M.T. Laney Company the opportunity to show you the excellence I’ve experienced in the past 23 years.

Meet Dale!

1. What is your current position and how long have you worked for us? Tell us about yourself: hobbies, interests, family life, etc.

I drive a lowboy, and as of March 2024 it will be my 26th year anniversary. I live in Taneytown and have two sons, 24 and 19. The 19 year old is following in my footsteps, he has his class A CDL and drives a trailer.

2. How did you get involved in our industry?

When I was a kid my grandfather drove a truck, so I wanted to drive as well. I got my CDL right out of high school and worked part time then eventually full time for M.T.Laney. I always liked working with Mel, Mike, and Joey Laney, you couldn’t ask for nicer guys to work with, so I stayed because I like what I’m doing.

3. What is your biggest accomplishment since working here?

Not sure if this is an accomplishment but I have taught quite a few people to drive tractor trailers and get their CDL over the years, it is rewarding to see them pass and be happy.

Meet Melissa!

1. What is your current position and how long have you worked for us? Tell us about yourself: hobbies, interests, family life, etc.

I am a Project Manager for MT Laney and have worked for the company going on 14 years. I enjoy gardening, crafting, and spending time with my family. I have 2 kids, my oldest, Cole is 15 and my daughter Julia is 8. Our family is involved with 4-H and the Community.

2. How did you get involved in our industry?

In 2010, I was hired to handle Accounts Payable and Receivables. After a few months in my position, I adopted my new role to oversee new projects which took me into learning about asphalt and the process from start to finish. I enjoy learning all about the equipment and what it takes to get the job done.

3. What is your biggest accomplishment since working here?

My position as a Project Manager is a great accomplishment for me being in the Construction Industry. Being able to manage multiple contracts and making sure work is completed in a timely manner is something I have been able to achieve over the years. However, I continue to learn something new everyday about this Industry. I have a great team along side of me and have made great relationships with the people I work with.
