If you've ever cleaned your marble with vinegar or a lemon-scented all-purpose spray because it felt like the "natural" way to do it — this one's for you.
Marble looks like it should be indestructible. It's stone, after all. But marble is calcium carbonate, which means anything acidic — lemon juice, w**e, vinegar, most bathroom and glass cleaners — actually eats into the surface on contact. That dull spot it leaves behind is called an etch, and it isn't a stain sitting on top that you can wipe away. The surface itself has been changed, which is why mopping harder never fixes it.
El Paso has a lot of the same marble varieties in local homes — bright white Carrara and Calacatta on counters and vanities, warmer Emperador and Crema Marfil on floors — and each one takes a polish a little differently. Guillermo is certified by MB Stone specifically in honing and polishing natural stone, which is a different skill than general cleaning: it's how you actually reverse an etch instead of just working around it.
