The front of a home should feel just as considered as the spaces inside it.

For New Castle, structure comes from the walkway, masonry, and strong architectural lines, while ornamental grasses and stone introduce softness and movement.

Together, they create an entry that feels polished from the street all the way to the door.

Luxury landscaping is about creating balance around the home.

The right mix of planting, structure, material, and proportion can soften strong architecture, define key areas, and give the entire property a more refined sense of presence.

When every element feels intentional, the landscape becomes part of what makes the home feel complete

Raised planters finished in marble help frame the property and give the landscape a crisp architectural edge.
Strip lighting along the entry steps adds depth, visibility, and a more dramatic evening experience.

Together, these elements create a landscape that feels polished, modern, and intentional from day to night

The Hughes Jura Project brings every part of the outdoor space together with purpose.
From the pool and outdoor kitchen to the planting, lighting, and covered living areas, each element was designed to feel connected, functional, and easy to enjoy.
The result is a backyard that works beautifully during the day and feels just as inviting after sunset.

The backyard becomes more than an extension of the home when every detail is designed with purpose.
Clean hardscape, layered greenery, water, and comfortable gathering areas come together to create a space that feels calm, polished, and easy to enjoy from morning through evening.

A $320K remodel built around how the space would actually be used.
New retaining walls opened up the property, while a Brazilian walnut floating bench, matching fire pit and outdoor kitchen created natural places to gather.

Two patio covers, water features, planting, lighting, a dry creek bed, and new entry columns brought the entire landscape together.
The result: more room to entertain, unwind, and make the most of evenings outside.

A well-designed landscape is never about adding more for the sake of it.
It’s about making every material, line, and transition feel deliberate, so the entire property works as one complete experience.
When the design is thoughtful, the space doesn’t just look better.
It feels more balanced, more refined, and more connected to the home.

Every Hughes commission starts the same way - with a complete vision. Not a single feature, not a piecemeal upgrade, but the entire outdoor space designed as one whole.

The pergola relates to the pool. The pool relates to the view. The lighting relates to the walk home. Considered together, from the very first sketch.

The difference between an outdoor space that feels finished and one that feels assembled comes down to sequence - when the layout, the hardscape, the planting, and the lighting are all planned together, every element supports every other one.

That's the standard we bring to every commission in El Dorado Hills.

Every element in a considered front yard has a reason to be there. On this Blackbird commission, four:

A raised stucco planter that echoes the home
A specimen olive, placed as sculpture
Ornamental grasses for movement and texture
River rock for drainage, contrast, and warmth

Together, one composition. Designed as a whole.
