A lot of people don’t realize there’s a big difference between a general contractor who simply manages a project… and one who actually builds it.

At Woolsey Construction, we’re a self-performing General Contractor. That means our team is directly involved in the work happening on site — not just coordinating from behind a desk. Not every project has the luxury of extra space.

This South Park project is surrounded by neighboring homes on both sides, with extremely tight property lines and very limited access throughout the site. Projects like this require careful planning long befaore construction even begins. From material staging and deliveries to excavation, structural work, and day-to-day coordination, every phase has to be thought through with precision when space is this limited.

Complicated projects are where experience matters most. Tight lots, hillside conditions, difficult access, and structural challenges all require a team that can adapt and problem solve without slowing the project down.

Custom ceiling paneling is going up inside the living room. On the exterior, the ipe soffit is up under the overhangs. On the lower deck, the built-in heaters have been installed.

Not everything reveals itself at the start.

On this North Park remodel, we were preparing for a second-story addition when excavation uncovered that the existing footing wasn’t strong enough to support the new load.

The only responsible path forward was to reinforce it properly before continuing—so the structure above is built the right way, from the ground up.

Now the crew is back at it, bringing the second story to life.

Building right > building fast.
