Merry Christmas from the Tides Team!

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF FALL

The fall is a great time to take a few hours or more and enjoy the changing leaves. Grab your favorite coffee, latte, or tea. We recommend Casciano's Coffee in Hammonton or Barista's in Egg Harbor Township as two great locally owned options.

There are some great local roads to try, just miles from our shop.
- Clarks Landing Road from Port Republic to Egg Harbor City - be sure to drive around Park Drive and Harry Bowen Field in Port Republic and sit by the water for a few moments
- Route 563 from Egg Harbor City to Chatsworth - magnificent during cranberry harvest
- Route 539 from Tuckerton to Whiting - breakfast at Lucille's in Warren Grove is a great option
- Route 50 from Egg Harbor City south through Cape May County - check out Dino's Diner, especially if you like Snapper Soup
- Drive the Forsythe National Wildlife Preserve and sit outside at Oyster Creek in Leeds Point for some great seafood & sunsets or Chicken Pot Pie

You might be asking yourself, "How am I going to find the time to take one of these memorable drives?"

Well, we have you covered there too! Go to www.tideslandscaping.com or call us to get a free estimate on having us do your fall clean up.

LATE FALL LANDSCAPING CHECKLIST

You still have a few weeks to protect your investment in your lawn and be ready for the spring season. Has the time gotten away from you? Turn to Tides!

• Aerate the Lawn – are you seeing mud spots or ponding on your lawn after a rain? The lawn is probably too compacted to let water perk through. That is going to be a problem with winter snow melt and spring rains. Let us aerate and loosen up your lawn to let the water drain through to the roots rather than drowning your lawn.
• Fertilize – Late fall applications give your lawn the head start it needs for the spring. Every lawn is different, but a high phosphorous mix is a safe bet for most lawns.
• Mow a Final Time – Cut the lawn to 1.25”-1.5” to resist disease and so those blowing leaves from your neighbor have nothing to latch onto in your lawn and keep travelling!
• Clean the Gutters and Rake the Leaves – Some people use a chicken wire pen to compost some of their leaves to use in the spring as free mulch. If you do be sure to flip the leaf pile every week or two with a pitchfork. If that is not in your plans let us come vacuum all of the leaves and take them away for you.
• Trim Dead Limbs – Larger branches can come down in winter storms damaging your house or property. If you have dead trees or larger limbs that need to be cut we can refer you to a local professional. For smaller limbs, especially ornamental trees it is important to cut dead or diseased limbs back near but not even with the trunk.
• Cut Back Perennials/Remove Annuals – It is time to say goodbye to your remaining tomato plants and marigolds. For perennials cut them down to the ground which tells the plant to invest its energy in building roots for the spring rather than maintaining the above ground foliage long after it is dead.
• Mulch – Apply a thin layer 2” or so of mulch to protect young plants and trees, keep them warm and control water run-off.
• Sprinkler Systems – Blow out the system so that water does not freeze in the lines and crack pipes, drip lines and sprinkler heads. To do it right you need to blow out the lines using an air compressor.

So what do you want to tackle from this list? You will enjoy the cold winter months a little more knowing you are prepared for a great 2021 lawn. If you don’t have the time or the desire, sign up for a free contactless estimate. Turn to Tides for the best lawn of your life!
