We specialize in serving the restoration industry, but many others use our maps and expertise of forensic meteorologists! Hail Trace uses our knowledge in severe weather forecasting to give companies a head start on their competition at restoring the lives of those in need. In addition to our forecast abilities we create hail maps that show the exact path hail storms take and overlay that swath on a Google map.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for west Texas including Lubbock and Midland, Texas!

05/29/2026

Thunderstorms developing this afternoon will move slowly eastward through the evening, bringing a risk of large hail up to 2”, strong wind gusts reaching 70 mph, and the potential for a tornado or two. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for portions of northern Oklahoma until 10 PM CDT.

Across the Texas Panhandle, severe thunderstorms are expected to develop between 4 and 5 PM CDT as a warm, unstable air mass combines with increasing wind shear. Any storms that form could quickly become severe, producing large hail, including isolated hailstones larger than 2”, along with very strong wind gusts that may exceed 75 mph. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch may be issued later this afternoon as storm coverage increases. The greatest threat will come from organized supercells capable of producing significant hail and intense straight-line winds through the evening hours.

TEXAS STORM FORECAST:

A few storms across the Texas panhandle are likely to produce 70+ mph wind gusts this afternoon and evening (4pm-8pm), some hail also possible (up to 2”).

Elsewhere the severe risk will be lower, but still golfball size hail and severe wind gusts will be the main threat!

Another day of severe weather setting up across eastern Colorado and the Plains.

Across Texas, swift-moving multicell thunderstorms will likely produce downburst (very strong wind) and severe hail today! Others across Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma will be in a marginally severe thunderstorm threat, with few tornadoes possible.

Tomorrow, we returns to the Plains, with an all hazards severe potential in the northern Plains and wind hail threat as far south as Texas! More storms Sunday as we return to this marginally active weather pattern!

Denver, welcome to hail season! We have two chances for Colorado storms this week, before the risk returns to the Plains on Saturday!
Another chance for large hail will be across the Pacific Northwest, as a low pressure system continues to spark severe weather to end the week.

A more active severe weather pattern is unfolding across the western U.S. and Plains today. Strong wind gusts up to 85 mph and large hail are all on the table as storms rapidly develop this afternoon and evening.
Two areas for concern today. The first in Denver, where a few storms will intensify as they move over the Rockies. Another, stretches from Oregon and Washington into Idaho. Both areas can expect thunderstorm development organizing this afternoon. Storms clusters will produce strong wind and hail.
Friday through Sunday storms will stretch across the central and southern Plains as an all hazards (hail, wind, and tornado) risk returns to the forecast!
