🐢 May also marks the start of something truly special on our island. Loggerhead Sea Turtle nesting season begins May 1st and runs through October 31st. From now through mid-August, these incredible threatened species come ashore at night to nest in our dry sand dune system - and 60 days later, hatchlings make their moonlit dash to the ocean. It is one of the most magical things Edisto has to offer, and we all play a role in protecting it.

Here is how you can help:
🔦 Lights Out - Artificial lights disorient nesting turtles and hatchlings. Please keep beachfront lights off and avoid flashlights and lanterns on or near the beach from May 1 through October 31.

🐕 Leash Your Pups - Per Town ordinance, all dogs must be on leashes May 1 through October 31 to protect hatchlings during nesting season.
Edisto is a place worth protecting - for us, for our guests, and for the generations (and hatchlings!) to come. See you on the island. 🌴
