This week, members of the K&M team spent time at South Dakota State University learning, networking, and supporting the next generation of construction industry leaders.

We enjoyed hearing SDSU CIM students present on their summer internships, receiving an update on the Concrete Industry Management Program, and participating in the annual golf tournament alongside fellow industry partners.

It was also great to reconnect with three students who spent their summer with K&M, Brayden Gust, Kara Scheer, and Paige Wurdeman. Over the last three months, they worked alongside our team in a variety of roles, gaining exposure to Project Management and Field Operations.

The SDSU CIM Program continues to grow and attract outstanding students who are preparing for careers in the concrete and construction industry. As the program expands, more industry partners are needed to join the CIM Patrons Group and help support the students and faculty who are shaping the future of our industry. Through internships, mentorship, scholarships, and industry engagement, patrons play an important role in ensuring graduates are prepared to take on tomorrow's challenges.

A special thank you to Nathan Skindelien of Duininck for joining our team during the event. Nate is a great partner and friend of K&M, and we're grateful for the opportunity to work alongside people who care deeply about the future of our industry.

We are grateful to be part of South Dakota State University's CIM Program and thankful for the opportunity to invest in the future leaders of the concrete and construction industry.

The future of K&M is being built one conversation, one lesson, and one project at a time.

In this photo, John, who has been part of the K&M family for 25 years, is working shoulder to shoulder with Franko, who joined our team just three months ago. Together, they're helping deliver the largest project scope in our company's history.

At K&M, we're convinced that our greatest asset isn't our equipment or technology. It's the people in the field who show up every day and get the work done safely, professionally, and with pride.

The transfer of knowledge between generations is one of the most important investments we can make. Experienced team members pass along hard-earned lessons, while newer team members bring fresh energy, perspectives, and ideas. The learning goes both ways, and our company is stronger because of it.

Thank you, John and Franko, for helping lead K&M into the future. And thank you to the entire team out there quietly getting it done day in and day out, delivering exceptional work for our clients and representing our company well.

We're a little late in sharing this one, but we couldn't let it pass without recognizing both an outstanding employee and the incredible community we're blessed to call home.

One of the many reasons we love living and working in Southwest Minnesota is the strong support for wholesome, family-friendly traditions like the Pipestone County Fair Ag Olympics. This year's event brought together 19 local four-person teams for an evening of friendly competition, laughter, and community spirit.

We're especially proud of our own Kyle De Wilde, who helped lead Team BodyChurch Wellness to a 2nd Place finish. Not bad for competing against a bunch of young'ns!

While we're happy to celebrate Kyle's success in the Ag Olympics, we're even more grateful for the impact he makes every day at K&M. Kyle has been an integral part of our team for many years, supporting our field operations in just about every way imaginable. He is the type of person who quietly steps in wherever needed and helps make our projects and people successful.

Kyle, thank you for everything you do for K&M. We're proud to have you on our team and proud to celebrate alongside communities that continue to invest in events that bring families and neighbors together.

Congratulations to all 19 teams that participated and to the medal-winning teams from Windy Ridge Veterinary Clinic, BodyChurch Wellness, and Team "To Be Determined"!

For Kara Scheer's last week at K&M for this summer, she visited our local hardware and lumber store Tinklenberg Lumber & Hardware of Edgerton!
They are such a valuable asset to our everyday operations!
Thank you, Dustin Van Essen and Connor, for taking the time out of your busy days to help us make this video!

Another great day of growth and leadership development at K&M.

Today marked Month 2 of our PREVAIL Leadership Academy, where Tim Hostettler, Director of Business Development, shared leadership lessons learned over more than 40 years in the construction industry. The session focused on leading people, emotional intelligence, mentorship, trust, and the everyday decisions that shape great leaders.

Tim shared real-world experiences and hard-earned lessons about:
• Leading with empathy
• Holding yourself and others accountable
• Navigating difficult conversations
• Learning from mistakes and blind spots
• Remaining humble and consistent under pressure
• Investing in the next generation of leaders

Leadership is rarely learned from a textbook. More often, it is developed through experience, challenges, relationships, and a willingness to keep growing.

That is exactly why PREVAIL exists. As K&M continues to grow, we are intentionally investing in our people and building a strong leadership pipeline for the future. Through monthly sessions led by experienced leaders, participants gain practical tools and perspectives that will help them lead well both today and in the years ahead.

Thank you, Tim, for sharing your experience, wisdom, and passion for developing others. We are grateful for leaders who are willing to pour into the next generation.

One of our interns, Kara Scheer, went down to Sioux Falls last week to learn all there is to know about our fabulous supplier for all things tools and equipment, Stan Houston Equipment Company!
Thank you Brett for taking the time to show Kara around and give us all a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes!

Building strong partnerships starts with great conversations.
Our intern, Kara, recently sat down with the Duininck team to talk about collaboration, industry insights, and what it takes to build successful projects together.
We're grateful for partners who share our commitment to excellence and innovation.

A special thank you to Alli Nash and Nathan Skindelien for taking the time to make and edit this video! 😁

Learning from the Pros!

This week, Paige Wurdeman, our Project Management Intern from South Dakota State University CIM Program, got a firsthand look at pump placement operations at our Better Way Investments Project in Sioux Falls, SD.

At K&M, we believe there is no better classroom than the jobsite. Learning directly from experienced field crews helps our interns gain a deeper appreciation for the skill, planning, and teamwork required to deliver successful concrete projects.

We also want to recognize the craftsmen in the field who make it all happen every day. Their talent, dedication, and willingness to teach the next generation are what make our industry great.

A big thank you to Keller Builds for trusting K&M with this project and to Ryan Schuur and Schuur Concrete LLC for always being a valued partner.

We're proud to invest in future industry leaders while learning from the best in the business.

We're incredibly grateful for the community that has supported K&M throughout the years.

On Friday, our team had a blast participating in the Dutch Festival Parade—throwing candy, spraying water, and enjoying a beautiful evening with so many families and friends along the route.

We're blessed to call Edgerton home and thankful for the people and communities that have supported us every step of the way.

Thank you for letting us be part of such a great tradition!
