We wanted to reach out and wish everyone a happy fall!!

As a reminder, the deer ticks are very active right now and they are looking for a place to call home on your property! Tick checks and leaf litter removal are vital throughout the fall to keep the tick population down and to ensure less eggs are being laid in the spring!

As always,

We hope you are all enjoying the cooler days and nights! It is important to remember all creatures are preparing for winter. This time of year ticks become very active while they’re trying to acquire their last blood meal before they overwinter! Ticks do not perish during the winter months, they overwinter in the pregnant stage awaiting spring to lay eggs. The fall treatments are very important to ensure less ticks are laying eggs on your property in the spring!

Now is a great time to place tick tubes and rodent bait boxes. If you are interested in these services please reach out! 🌱☀️

The ticks are becoming very active as cooler temperatures approach. Remember ticks do not perish in the winter months, instead they find a host such as a mouse, mole or chipmunk to nest with. A pile of leaves also serves as an insulation for overwintering. Tick checks are essential throughout the season, a nymph is no bigger then a grain of salt.
Be aware and stay educated about ticks and the diseases they carry.

This is an actual photo taken by our Boothbay veterinary hospital. An animal came in with an engorged female deer tick, she then gave birth to thousands! Helping control the tick population is very important, please make sure you and your family are taking precautions to protect yourselves and your four legged loved ones.
