We are gardeners for the planet and all who inhabit it. With our organic approaches we strive to enrich the environment. A strong ecosystem starts in the soil. We’re always glad to see the evidence of that health by seeing little buddies like these around!

The Red Admiral is a beautiful butterfly which is commonly seen in gardens across the planet this time of year. They are native to many different continents including North America, Europe, Asia, and North Africa (how cool is that!). The larvae feed on plants in the nettle family. Adults enjoy nectar rich plants, as well as rotting fruit. We were lucky to have a visit from this one today!

Jubilee Gardens is named so because to us, a jubilee is a grand celebration, a special event that happens annually. And what better way to honor your garden than to think of it as just that. A celebration. A festival of plants and memories!

We first started our garden with plants passed down from parents, grandparents, friends. Pass along plants from special places. Every one marking the anniversary of its blooms from years before in other gardens.

Every plant, every garden, tells a story. Tell us, what do you celebrate in your garden? Do you have a favorite plant? Let us know in the comments!

Back in the spring we were asked to create some planters for The Retreat on King. I’m loving how they turned out!

Shout out to Heidi Ross who took the lead in sanding and painting these old feed troughs to create the beautiful, copper planters. We then added a reinforced frame to the interior, and castors to make them mobile.

Another 🎂 birthday pause. We’re doing what we can; weeds, dry plants, t-ball games, flower bouquets, buckets of squash, tomato wilt viruses- all for us and all for these kiddos. To plant the gardens of their lives to harvest from long after we’re gone.

The garden at our farm is showing off for June! Despite the drought and lack of watering, these day lilies always show up for us this time of year. On a side note, did you know the petals are edible!? Rich in antioxidants like vitamin c and a, they make a lovely, colorful addition to salads and other fresh meals! Always be sure you’re consuming true daylilies (genus Hemerocallis) and not other garden lilies as those are toxic.
