GHOST STORIES, Vol. II: "The Case of the Ghost Fan"
(The following is a TRUE story!!)
In 1998, the staff at a medical research lab in England were convinced the building was haunted. People felt watched, they got cold shivers walking the halls, and more than one of them saw a gray figure at the edge of their vision that vanished the second they turned to look at it 😳
An engineer named Vic Tandy finally worked out what was going on, after he left a fencing foil clamped in a vise and came back to find it vibrating by itself. A newly installed extractor fan was humming at about 19 hertz, which is too low for anyone to actually hear, but it happens to be the frequency that makes the human eyeball resonate, so it was smearing people's vision at the edges and filling them with dread for no reason they could point to.
They adjusted the fan, and the ghost moved out 👻
So, the scariest thing in that whole building was the bad ventilation!
