Did you know, you can still build a house during a Wisconsin winter! 🥶

Winter is only a couple months away, (sorry for the reminder) so if you’re thinking about building, now is the time to start planning.

Since our team set roof trusses this week I thought it would be a good time to talk about all the work that goes into that process.

Truss day can look pretty simple. Bring in the crane, pick up a truss and set it on the house. But there’s a lot that has to happen before the first truss ever leaves the ground.

The walls need to be framed, sheathed and standing. Plates need to be in place, walls need to be straight, square and properly braced, and everything needs to be ready for the trusses to land exactly where they need to go. Then there is the number of trusses that need to be set. A typical home could be anywhere from 20-50+. There’s also plenty of planning that goes into getting the trusses delivered, figuring out the crane setup and making sure the jobsite is ready for the lift.

You’ll typically have at least two guys working from the roof, guiding and setting the trusses. It takes a lot of confidence, experience, and balance to work that high off the ground, while properly securing the trusses to keep the job moving safely.

On the ground, one person manages the rope attached to the truss to help control it while it’s being lifted and swung into position. They are also making sure the correct truss is being lifted into place.

Then there is the skilled crane operator. That safely lifts the truss up and over the house while keeping an eye on everyone around the job site.

Everyone has a job, and communication is key. Each truss gets lifted, controlled, positioned and secured before moving on to the next one.

So while truss day might be one of the most exciting days to watch, it’s really the result of a lot of work and preparation that happened before it.

It's been a little quiet on our page lately, but that's because we've been busy getting projects finished. We wrapped this one up about a month ago.

This home got all new windows, exterior trim, LP SmartSide sheet siding, and soffit & fascia. This siding and window combination looks clean and modern and will look great for years to come.

Thanks to all of our customers for keeping us busy! If you're thinking about updating your home's exterior, we'd be happy to come take a look. This home is a great reminder that sometimes all it takes is the right exterior facelift to make a house feel brand new.

Finished this custom home a couple months ago. It’s always great knowing the owner is getting exactly what they want!

Summer is just around the corner ☀️ why not enjoy it on your deck! We know what to do when it comes to building a deck for your home. We also know what to look for on your existing deck.

Many older decks may look “fine” on the surface, but there could be many hidden issues:
•Loose or unstable rails
•Rotting wood or water damage
•Weak support posts or framing
•Rusted fasteners and hardware
•Unsafe stairs or shifting boards

If your current deck is showing its age, it may be time for a refresh or a complete rebuild. Whether you want to restore an existing deck or create a brand new outdoor living space, we can help bring your vision to life!
