Fortis in the Field | Harbor Pointe

We're taking a look at the erosion and sediment control measures being implemented at Harbor Pointe as site development continues.
Kevin discusses how diversion ditches, a temporary sediment pond, stabilization efforts, and rip rap work together to support stormwater management throughout the construction process.

With rainfall in the forecast, it's a good opportunity to highlight some of the planning and infrastructure that help manage runoff and control sediment on an active construction site.

Fortis Siteworks supported E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. on a trenchless casing installation beneath US 441, restoring drainage performance while keeping the roadway intact.

Nearly Three Miles of Force Main

The Fortis Siteworks utility team is making progress on a force-main installation stretching nearly three miles near Greensboro.

A force main is a pressurized sewer pipe that moves wastewater when gravity alone cannot. Along the way, crews are also completing underground crossings, installing valves and testing points, connecting to the existing system and restoring the corridor behind them.

A project of this length takes the right people, equipment and wet-utility experience to keep moving.

Building Up The Veazey Pump Station

Backfilling and grading are nearing completion at the Veazey pump station site near Lake Oconee.

Fortis is hauling, placing, and compacting 25,000 cubic yards of fill to bring the site up to its planned elevation.

This progress update shows how our grading and wet utility capabilities come together on the larger Richland Connector project.

Fortis Delivers Sitework at Scale

Stillwater is close to home, but the size and scope of the job show what the Fortis team can deliver across Georgia.

Our people moved the dirt, built the roads and installed the water, storm drainage and sewer systems serving the community.

Good to spend time with and and recognize the work that went into getting Stillwater at Lake Oconee to this point.

Boring in Coastal Georgia… 🎯

The Fortis boring team installed a 240-foot run of 54-inch steel casing along Blue Jay Road in Rincon, finishing within the thickness of a 💳 from the intended target.

Using our Barbco Inc auger boring machine, the team completed the underground crossing without opening the roadway above. That kind of accuracy takes careful planning, specialized equipment and an experienced crew working together.

Another example of the precision and trenchless capability the Fortis Siteworks boring team brings to projects across Georgia.

Ten Feet Across. Twenty-Six Feet Deep.

Most people never see the equipment that keeps wastewater moving.

This large fiberglass structure is called a wet well. Once installed 26 feet below ground, it will collect wastewater before pumps move it through pressurized pipes toward a treatment facility. The wet well is a central part of a pump station, which keeps wastewater moving when gravity alone cannot do the job.
