Fortis Siteworks Handles 54-Inch Bore in Coastal Georgia
Late last week, Fortis crews began a major auger boring operation at Horsepen and Blue Jay roads in Effingham County.
The 54-inch bore is one of 25 trenchless crossings Fortis is self-performing for Legacy Water Group as part of the Effingham County Water Extension Project.
Using our Barbco Inc 48/60-950 auger boring machine, Fortis can execute trenchless installations up to 72 inches in diameter to support critical water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure.
Stay tuned as the team prepares for its next major crossing under Interstate 16!

Please help us welcome Kyle Collins to the Fortis Siteworks team as our new Director of Business Development.

Kyle brings a communications and public relations background from nearly 12 years with Georgia DOT. He will help us open the door for new clients and identify development opportunities to grow our footprint across grading, utilities, and boring. He hit the ground running joining our monthly safety meeting and introducing himself to our team and sharing his goals for the future of Fortis Siteworks. A great sign that he’s already invested in how we work and the people who make it happen.

As a local sitework company, there’s nothing quite like seeing our machines on the ground for a project for our neighbors right here in the community. This is what we mean when we say we’re improving lives through infrastructure.

Erosion control is a critical part of every new development project because it helps keep soil and sediment where it belongs—on the job site. During heavy rain, unprotected soil can wash onto newly paved roads, into storm drains, and nearby streams or ponds, creating safety hazards, environmental impacts, and costly cleanup. While intense storms can challenge even the best erosion control measures, regular inspections, maintenance, and prompt repairs help minimize sediment movement and protect surrounding infrastructure, waterways, and the community.
