COMMUNITY ACTION!!! Call for zucchini!!!!

The Orcas Island Food Bank did not receive their zucchini shipment, and they usually go through about 400lbs on Tuesday. Please drop off whatever squash you have going spare at the donation shed today or in person tomorrow starting at 8:15AM it would be so helpful to the folks who rely on our local food bank. Kick off the Fall with our first program! We are excited to welcome Alex Winstead, owner of Bellingham's Cascadia Mushrooms (https://cascadiamushrooms.com). Alex will share expert tips on growing your own mushrooms and explain how fungi act as powerful allies in your garden. You will also learn practical ways to integrate mushrooms into your current gardening plans.

Join the OIGC Book Club on Tuesday, September 1 from 1:30 to 3pm at the Orcas Public Library's community room for our first Fall book club meeting.

Get ready for a blooming good time! 🌼 OIGC is holding a flower pressing workshop on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 2 to 4 pm in the Orcas Library Community Room.

We'll be nuking flowers (don't worry, it's for art!) using microwave oven presses to turn them into gorgeous bookmarks and coasters.

It's free, and you can even bring a plus one!

Be sure to register with Tony Suruda at [email protected], as spots are limited to 12. He'll give you the lowdown on the best flowers to bring.

(Psst, we'll have rose petals and asparagus ferns on hand too!)
