He'd had the drop in the garage floor for so long it had become invisible.

Not literally. It was there.

A noticeable dip near the back wall where the floor had settled over the years. But he'd stopped seeing it the way you stop noticing a picture that's been hanging crooked for a decade.

His wife was the one who finally said something.

He called Slabjack mostly to get a number. He figured it would be expensive enough that they'd keep putting it off.
