Happy August! ☀️

Some might call this time the, "Dog Days of Summer." This fella found his way up to our porch over the weekend. We've had lights on our porch at night to deter critters from wanting to home up in the ceiling (a different story for a different time perhaps), and this not so little guy was attracted to the lights. Known as a Dobsonfly, these interesting looking creatures start out as larvae in bodies of water. So, we assume it came from our stream a little ways away from the house. I'd never seen an insect like this before, so I used Google Lens to tell me what it was.
Have you ever seen a Dobsonfly before?
What interesting facts do you know about them?
Let us know in the comments!

Also, let us know what fascinating creatures you've spotted this summer! 🌞🐢🐄🦆🐠🦗🪲🪱🐛🦋🐝

We are in the BEFORE time. The time where our plans are being put down, cut out, transplanted. The time where we place our hopes and dreams of green, white, yellow, pink, red, purple, magenta, orange or blue! 🌈
It's Spring in Upstate NY, and we are just getting started! 🌱✨🌾
Send us your BEFORE pics this year, and we'll share them here on our socials! We want to share the inspiration, so be sure to tell us what is coming soon! 🌱☘️🌻🍅🌽🥕🫑🌾
