The old fence came out. The yard had been keeping receipts.

More than half of New Bedford’s housing stock was built before 1940, so homeowners are used to properties with history. Fence replacement can have its own archaeology once old posts, buried concrete, patched sections, and earlier repair choices finally come out of the ground.

A good replacement plan should leave room for what removal reveals instead of assuming the visible fence tells the whole story. Sometimes the cleanest new line starts with understanding what the previous project left behind.
