This week’s Artifact of the Week provides a glimpse into Anderson’s downtown circa 1895. Looking south from the Chiquola Hotel, you can see several storefronts including the Orr & Sloan Drug Store.

The Artifact of the Week is this photograph, circa 1910! In it, you can see signs for Hall’s Clothiers, Sullivan’s Hardware, and the Piedmont Electric Company. The Chiquola Hotel sits in the background and a horse and buggy sits in the foreground. The Anderson County Museum has a similar horse and buggy in front of our Routes of History exhibit.
