🦠One year ago transformed my life forever!! Today marks the one year mark…..
The diagnosis of leukemia was beyond reality.
One year ago I had no idea what leukemia was and now I've gained too much shocking insight . ⚛️
I found who I am and through my faith learned how incredibly strong we as humans really are.
We can do super hard things when faced head on.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers my direction.
I stand here today still fighting for me and my family.
One pinnacle moment in this last year was just last week dancing with my Melody Jane, the daddy daughter dance at her wedding…. I love you forevermore Melody Whatcott
Praying no one will even need to experience this horrible cancer.

Today’s project. Live edge beautiful slab of pine.
Chainsaw milled a 20.5” wide x 78” long x2” thick table top out of blue stain pine. Sitting atop two oak barrel’s.
Sand.. few coats of finish.
This will add to Wendy’s wedding rental business,
“Tie the knot wedding rental”

Tomorrow is the start of another 4-6 week hospital stay where my FIL will receive a bone marrow transplant from Greg. This is a very challenging process with many ups and downs. We are grateful Greg is a match and hopeful for a full recovery and remission.

There’s a new guy patrolling the 8th floor of the LDS hospital. He looks like a bit of a creeper. Someone should check to make sure he belongs there.

No fevers and no hair today.

Update.

Today is day 16 of chemo,second round….
My numbers have been very low by design for weeks now. Resulting in being quite weak. But I’m fighting and doing ok.
I’m working towards day 28 to get the next bone biopsy.
This will be a crucial test. My numbers need to be at a specific level for me to potentially come home for a short stay.

Short stay at home waiting for the donor to be chosen.

When that is in place… then the donor and I will come back to the hospital.
The donor will be prepped for a few days to over stimulate their white blood count.
I will ungo one week of very heavy chemo. Preparing my system down to zero. Then will receive the transplant

And pray like never before my body excepts the transplant

I will stay in the hospital for 4-5 weeks as they watch how my body does.

With the Lord on my side …… and prayers from all I should be able to come home after this.
With months of strength rebuilding. And being safe from the world.

This is still months out. but we have a plan. I am doing EVERYTHING they ask of me. I’ve have had some incredible challenges and some incredible blessings.
I am fighting each moment. It’s not easy. I look better than I feel.
So very thankful for all these medical professionals and the medicines.
Who’s counting. Day 40 in a hospital bed.

And I did not loose my hair!!!!!!!
Just a short hair cut. My hair has grown faster thicker and dark!!!

Most days numbers are so low I receive blood, platelets and magnesium

Up early fighting a bit of pain.
Today will start down a new road.
We received the new plan of attack yesterday.
I’m in the hospital for at least another
3 -4 weeks. 🤪
Looks like we will be hitting this leukemia much harder this round.
I get the pleasure of injesting 5 diff chemos. 3 for the first bit, followed by 2 more. 🦠
If you have never seen me without facial hair….. stick around.
I haven’t shaved my mustache in 37 years.
A bit scared and nervous.

But there’s no way around it.
Unless someone can meet me at the back loading dock of the hospital at midnight tonight??
I’m friendly I’ll eat anything and I don’t talk to much.

Here we go!

I pray for my wife durning this time. She is the best and doesn’t deserve this ride…

What a blessing…. Family.
Being extremely carful with drs approval..
Family came in to visit. Melody, Milo, Mia and Mykel came to see me.
Makes my heart melt when I get to hug my Melody Jane
We went outside in the sunshine for a bit. And played monster trucks and Candyland.
My loving daughter in law Mykel Winter made a chocolate Father’s Day cake

I couldn’t do this ugly road without family.
