The evenings are arriving early now. It is still warm enough for a night by the pool. Just finished another pool patio with Torrison Stone and Garden and Poolscapes.

Sometimes you come across annoying little speed bumps. A simple job of changing a floodlight gets complicated by rusted and frozen in place screws. The fixture box is recessed above the soffit material and needs screws that are longer than expected. (This is why we have many sizes of screws at the ready. The new fixture wasn’t manufactured correctly due to the hole wasn’t tapped all the way through. Fortunately, a drawer full of taps allow us to modify issues when they arise. We needed multiple screwdrivers and a few other tricks of the trade to loosen the stripped and seized screws in order to get it done relatively easy. The goal is to minimize trips up and down the ladder. Having the tools on you or in your van makes things go efficiently.

We just returned from a very nice vacation. We got to stop in Dubrovnik, Croatia and saw the old town section. When you are into lighting, you notice it everywhere. I had to take some pictures of the sights at night as they were stunning. I hope the pictures do it justice. Areas like this are hard to capture in a picture because everything you see is magnificent.

Coming to a close on this beautiful patio and landscape project I wanted to share some day and night comparison shots. Today the final touches as Torrison Stone and Garden will finish sod and mulch and then the project will shine. The boulder on this property is almost as big as a bus. This will essentially be the “lamppost”, clearly defining the property upon arrival. Soft lighting will allow the space to be navigated safely and invite you to enjoy the patio space at night.

We paid a summer night visit to a project we finished in the spring. After some powerful rain storms this week, the water fall is flowing strong under the bridge. Torrison Stone and Garden expanded this patio and made it one of my favorite projects that we had an opportunity to do lighting on.

It was a nice place to wait for the sun to set. An inviting patio and comfortable lighting on the steps make it safe to walk to the dock. Looking back to the house, the patio walls and boulders in the landscape are showcased. The last step will be incorporate existing lights on the house into a lighting control system to make the whole house cohesive at night.

Patiently waiting for sunset. What to do? Break out the laptop, turn on the Ecoflow and work on some admin. This Ecoflow inverter is outstanding. Having work stations in the van is a must. The drop down janky table in the back is perfect for assembling fixtures or as a desk. The interior desk is nice too. Access to the outlets which are powered by the Ecoflow. Van life? (kind of).

Lights are installed and now waiting for dark to see the effect. 4.5 hours to go. Not a bad place to wait though. Candlewood lake in the background.
