With a history of over 74 years in Durham, repeat clients represent a significant portion of CT Wilson's work. We have been honored to work on projects across Durham Academy's Upper and Middle School campuses for the last decade. As Durham Academy continues to improve its Middle School Campus, we are happy to be partnering again in constructing a new gymnasium. We can't wait to see what this project adds for the school community—stay tuned for progress updates!

Most people can't say they've had a picnic at a castle. For our project team and trade partners, it was a pretty regular lunch spot over the past year. As we wrap up this unique project, the team gathered one last time to celebrate the successful renovation and expansion of Gimghoul Castle and all the hard work that made it possible. Happy 250th Birthday, America! As we celebrate this milestone, CT Wilson is proud to support the veterans who have served and sacrificed for our country by raising funds for the American Legion of Chapel Hill. Every dollar donated by our employees will be matched by CT Wilson, up to a total company match of $2,500, helping us make an even greater impact together.

In 2020, CT Wilson completed construction of American Legion Post 6 in Chapel Hill, and we could not be more honored to give back to this organization. The post offers programs and opportunities for community connection to veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.

Craig Herndon began his career at CT Wilson in 1999, years before he became a father. Little did he know that 27 years later, he would still be part of the CT Wilson team, be the proud father of four daughters, and have the unique opportunity to work alongside his oldest daughter, Bella, a member of our Business Development team. In honor of their first Father's Day as coworkers, we asked Bella to share a few words about working with her dad:

“My dad is my hero, the best man I’ve ever met, steady, humble, and grounded in everything he does. He’s taught me to always do the right thing, never let anything pull me out of character, and that anything can be fun. I feel incredibly blessed to work in an environment shaped by a leader like him, and my goal every single day is to make him proud."

CT Wilson hosted an Architect Appreciation night at the Durham Bulls game last night, and it was a total homerun! We had perfect weather, great food, wonderful company, and a Bulls win to top it all off. Thanks to all our trusted partners who showed up and made this a night to remember. With history seeped into every wall of Elizabeth City State University's Principal's House and Rosenwald School, respectful preservation of the buildings was paramount. In the early 20th century, African Americans often lacked access to schools that met basic standards for proper learning. After the Rosenwald School Program began in 1917, ECSU built a facility that served as both a school for African American children and a teaching site for college students. As the 100-plus-year-old buildings fell into disrepair and stood vacant, they required detailed restoration to preserve their important history.

CT Wilson recently restored both buildings, allowing ECSU to utilize these historical landmarks once again. The Rosenwald School will feature interpretive exhibits, classrooms, and research space focused on African American education and history, while the Principal's House offers administrative offices, meeting areas, and small event space. Together, they form the Northeastern North Carolina African American Research and Cultural Heritage Institute at ECSU.

For TROSA, this new hall is not just a building, but a representation of the increasing impact they can provide to the Durham community. TROSA's program offers free support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders to help them get their lives back. The additional dorm space, shared classrooms, and offices will help TROSA amplify its mission for years to come, and we couldn't be prouder to be part of it.

Congratulations to all 2026 graduates and everyone starting a career in the AEC industry! As you begin this new chapter, be open to adopting an attitude of a lifelong student - stay curious, work hard, and enjoy the journey. There is still a lot to learn as you embark on this path, but the feeling of pride and accomplishment you experience when you physically see a building you contributed to becoming a reality - that is priceless. (But the pay is really good, too. 😉)

Charlie Wilson, president of CT Wilson, offers this advice to anyone interested in entering the industry: "There are lots of different career paths in the construction industry. Don't be afraid to explore and find the one you enjoy."

In support of CT Wilson's new leadership structure, we want to recognize Devin Hill's promotion to VP of Administration. Devin joined CT Wilson in 2023 and quickly made an impact on CT Wilson's administrative processes, earning promotions to HR Manager and, now, VP of Administration. She leads key functions including HR, finance, and IT, while supporting employee growth through the company's PRO You commitment.

In her own words, "I strive to lead each day with empathy and integrity, both in my professional role and in my personal life. I believe in taking the time to understand others' perspectives, treating people with respect, and making decisions that are fair, consistent, and grounded in doing what's right, not what's easiest. My approach to leadership is deeply rooted in my faith, which guides me to lead with humility, compassion, and accountability. Because of that foundation, choosing empathy and integrity isn't something I have to think twice about; it's a natural part of who I am and how I show up every day."
