The bridge at mile post 495 on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad withstood the test of time for nearly 100 years. In 2023 we helped install a new bridge across the same section of the Animas. This fall we finally got around to removing the existing bridge.

While the old bridge definitely needed to be removed due to the fact that it was impeding on the river flow around the new bridge and would cause future problems, it was somewhat saddening seeing it come down.

The cool thing is the amount of large beams and lumber that is still in good shape that can be used on future bridge repairs or other projects the DSNG may have.

Wanting a pond? We can help with that.

After heavy rains in October that raised groundwater levels exponentially, we had to keep the pumps running 24/7 to keep the water levels down to be able to finish excavation.

Before years end this will get a 6" layer of sand, liner and rock features and be ready to be enjoyed next spring.
