Starts with one phone call

When you call in to discuss our services, I will ask you several questions about your wishes and needs as well as contact and location information. Most of the time I will need to visit your site to see exactly what you have to work with. Sometimes it is possible to get some basic and general ideas of our styles, services and pricing over the phone, but keep in mind they will be very broad until I arrive at your site. With this face to face meeting we will typically discuss design and pricing in more detail to make sure you are comfortable enough to take the next step. There are several design options and situations that I won’t discuss here, but to see my services and then please view the gallery for some examples. Designs typically take an average of two weeks to complete and review with you, but if you have specific needs or time frames just let me know. The construction process will begin within a month of the commitment to install the entire project. Spring projects may take longer and summer projects may go a little earlier. The construction process is very invasive, but any specific information and requests can be discussed in advance. Any materials left on site will be removed and your home and project will be thoroughly cleaned and finished. Thanks for checking us out! MIke Saline (Owner/Designer)

Some of our most treasured landscapes need our help! We jumped at the chance today to pitch in and help with the collaborative Dune Stewardship Initiative by planting beach grass on Park Point (Minnesota Point). So rewarding!

We joined City of Duluth, MN and DuluthParksMN (and learned so much!) because we are better together. 🤝 Sharing local stewardship goals for us is a no-brainer. Plus PERFECT DULUTH DAY. ;)

Without the beach grass, Park Point and all of Minnesota Point is in trouble. The rhizomes of this American Beachgrass - Ammophila breviligulata ssp. breviligulata - are needed to stabilize the dunes. It’s a powerhouse of a species - known as an “ecosystem engineer.” Without it, our beaches, dunes and native landscapes erode.

It’s hands on work. Plus did you know that this particular species of beach grass is only found right here on Minnesota Point? No where else in the state! Sadly its status in MN is “threatened.” But…we can each do our part to bring restoration and stewardship to this area. There’s hope. Little plant with a huge impact.

Little known fact: Minnesota Point is the world’s longest natural freshwater sandbar in the WORLD. With Lake Superior as the backdrop? This water + beach ecosystem is the most beautiful partnership. Any season. Any weather.

Staying off the dunes and the beach grass is one of the best things we can do to support Minnesota (and Wisconsin) Point - for generations to come.

There’s another species of beach grass from Michigan that was introduced years ago, which overpowers our native variety. The Minnesota DNR has resources to educate the public on the differences. Learn them if you can. The Michigan species should be removed. (MN species pictured here)

Our “after” photos are filled time, communication, consideration, creativity, design pillars, teamwork, hard work, vision, problem solving, celebration…and many other factors that may not always get time in the spotlight. But it all adds up to work we couldn’t be more proud of. No matter the size or scope of the job, we are all in.
