I'm in the thick of daylily hybridizing season up here in our 3b/4b garden, and Friday saw the first bloom of Heavy Petal Saint Bob from Heavy Petal Daylilies, which arrived last fall. It was a show-stopper and a diploid on top of it! HUGE flower despite being the first flower open on a young plant. Its pollen went to nearly every diploid that was open! Congrats to David for such a wonderful plant...can't wait to see how it matures!

A "Weedling" that showed up next to "The Tribble With Blue" - first bloom, first flower. Odds are good that The Tribble With Blue may have been a parent, but another possibility might be "Stippled Peach Parfait"..perhaps a scape that got trampled by the dog or a pod that fell off. It could have also been something off of MKB5-05....which is also nearby. I've been watching this little patch of dirt...thought it was either several small fans coming off the side of TTWB, or seedlings. Now I know what they were...and this one rocketed off this year.

With much regret, due to extenuating circumstances, we won't be holding a plant sale during Woodland Days Duluth this year. We may offer plants later this summer or fall, and possibly for shipping, if time permits. The daylily hybridizing season is just starting, and the first crosses are already on the books! Still many 2025 harvest seeds up for sale on Daylily.com!
