Another problem uncovered in the sunroom. 🔨

Once we removed the old insulation and exposed the framing, we found that the windows had virtually no air sealing around the frames.

Before the walls go back together, we’re sealing those gaps with insulated window-and-door expanding foam.

This project has turned into much more than a cosmetic renovation. The farther we open it up, the more evidence we find that this sunroom addition was pieced together without some pretty important details.

That’s okay.

We’re correcting it one section at a time and making sure the problems we uncover don’t get hidden behind new Sheetrock.

FIRST DAY JACKING THE ROOF UP 🔨

What started as a sunroom renovation exposed a much larger structural problem.

📏 Approx. 8” roof sag
⬆️ 1” recovered on Day 1
🏠 House-side connection appears to have separated
🪚 Structural repair and reinforcement coming next

Because this section just received a new roof, we’re stopping here until the roofer can safely open and dry-in the repair area. Then we can expose the connection, see exactly what failed, and continue bringing the structure back where it belongs.

We’re taking this one slow and controlled rather than trying to recover years of movement in one shot.

SMOOTH TRAIL RIDE TO THE HONEY HOLE 🌲🛺🎣

A peaceful golf-cart ride through the woods, along the trails, and down to the pond. The scenery is still beautiful, but the exposed shoreline shows just how much the drought has affected the water—the pond is down roughly four feet.

Featuring our original instrumental, “Where the Trail Meets the Water”—soothing, tranquil, and just adventurous enough to keep the ride moving.

This waterfront cleanup is set to our original instrumental, “Clean Pass”—an upbeat lake-style groove made for progress, restoration, and satisfying jobsite footage.

“What the hell is going on here?!?!” became the official question of this project.

Every layer uncovered something worse: rotten lumber, crooked framing, insufficient supports, leaks, mold, termite damage, bee tunnels and repairs built on top of old failures.

It may feel like we’d be better off torching it and starting over—but that isn’t how we work. We expose every problem, tear out every shortcut and rebuild it level, plumb, safe, solid and right.

The heat, hunger and pain may kick our ass, but they won’t beat us.

One of those “not really sure what to call it” kind of days. 😂

No major build. No big jobsite milestone. Just knocking out everything that’s been waiting—adjusting an access door, yard cleanup, hauling off old furniture and trash, organizing, getting things ready for another project and squeezing in some grandbaby time along the way.

Sometimes progress isn’t what you BUILD.

Sometimes it’s everything you get out of the way so you’re READY to build.

Some folks see an old dock that’s finally had enough. We see good bones, good memories—and a good fixer upper.

This one’s about more than lumber, piles, bolts and seawalls.

It’s about restoring the places where families grew up. Where Dad taught the kids to fish. Where Grandpa sat by the water. Where boats came and went, kids jumped off the end, and Carolina sunsets closed out another summer day.

Then one day those kids grow up—and bring their own babies back to the same water.

That’s when restoration becomes something bigger than construction.

Save what’s good. Replace what’s not. Strengthen what’s weak. Build it back with pride. And pass it on.
