🍂 Fall foliage is here! The leaves are changing, and we're keeping an eye on the colors across the area. From the first hints of yellow to vibrant reds, oranges and golds, we love seeing the beauty of our trees in full force.

Looking to catch the best of the season? Peak fall color is expected around this week, continuing into late October. If you've been snapping fall foliage pics like we have, share your best with us in the comments! 🍁

Tip for this season: keep an eye on your trees while you're snapping away! Changes in foliage can be beautiful, but unusual early color, sparse foliage, or significant dieback can sometimes point to underlying tree stress. If you see anything out of the ordinary, have our team out for a consultation — give us a call or go online today! https://bit.ly/3SLFA2p

🍂 Fall may be cooling Columbus down, but your trees are still responding to the conditions around them.

In our area, dry winds and upcoming freeze-thaw cycles can add stress, particularly for evergreens and trees growing in dry or compacted soils. Checking soil moisture and addressing hydration before the ground freezes can be an important part of fall tree care.

Keep these cold temp tips in mind:
💧 Water deeply before the ground freezes, especially for evergreens. Water longer and less frequently when conditions and soil type call for deeper soaking.
🌱 Check soil moisture regularly instead of relying on cool temperatures as an indication that the soil is hydrated.
🍂 Maintain healthy soil and mulch practices to help moderate moisture and temperature changes.
🧂 Consider where winter salt exposure can stress trees and plants near sidewalks or roads. Burlap splash screens and appropriate soil treatments can help with this!
🌿 Avoid pushing drought-stressed trees with high-nitrogen fertilizer.

A little preparation now can help your trees head into winter in better condition! Have our team out for a consultation as you prepare your property for colder temps — call or visit our website today to book: https://bit.ly/3SLFA2p

Fall is an important time to think about what's happening below the surface. ⬇️

As temperatures cool but the soil remains workable, tree roots can continue growing and taking up nutrients. Fall fertilization can help address nutrient deficiencies and support the root system as trees prepare for the stresses of winter.

The right nutrient mix should be based on the tree, its growing conditions and the needs of the soil. Professional fertilization can help determine what your trees actually need rather than applying nutrients blindly.

If your trees could benefit from a fall nutrient application, now is the time to start planning! Give us a call or go online today for your estimate: https://bit.ly/3SLFA2p

Cooler weather doesn't always mean your trees are done needing water! 💧 A slow, deep watering before winter helps roots store moisture and better handle seasonal stress.

In our area, it's best to keep watering until the first hard freeze, especially during dry stretches. You'll want to plan to water your tree up until temperatures dip into the 30s for a few days straight. Young maples, oaks, and ornamental trees are especially susceptible to winter drought stress during the freeze-thaw cycles we go through every year.

A little extra water now can make a BIG difference next season. Give us a call or go online and get your estimate today: https://bit.ly/4pfZYUW

Not every yellow leaf means autumn is around the corner. 🍃🍂

If your tree is showing yellow leaves while everything else is still green, it could be chlorosis — a nutrient deficiency that prevents trees from producing enough chlorophyll.

Keep an eye out for:
🍁 Yellow leaves with green veins
🍂 Brown or scorched edges
📏 Smaller leaves
🍃 Leaves dropping earlier than expected.

The good news is, mild cases can often be improved with soil treatments, while more advanced cases may benefit from professional care. Not sure which one you're seeing? We're happy to take a look! Give us a call or go online today: https://bit.ly/4pfZYUW

Today, we remember September 11, 2001, and the 2,977 lives lost that day.

For our founders, Michael and David Joseph, both career firefighters, this day carries a deeply personal meaning. 25 years later, we remain awestruck by the extraordinary courage and selflessness shown in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

We honor those who led others to safety, cared for the injured, worked tirelessly through the recovery efforts, and stood beside their communities in the days, weeks, and years that followed. Most of all, we will never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Our Joseph Tree family remains eternally grateful to all who answered the call that day, and we continue to honor those we lost and the families who carry their memory. 🇺🇸
