🌳 Friends, Family & Facebook Peeps,
We’ve noticed quite a bit of tree-trimming work being done in our area in ways that appear unprofessional and potentially harmful to the health and longevity of the trees.

Improper pruning can cause unnecessary stress, permanent damage, disease, decay, and in some cases, even contribute to the death of a tree. 🌲

If you’re considering having your trees trimmed or evaluated, we strongly encourage you to seek out an ISA Certified Arborist who can properly assess your trees, explain what they need, and recommend the appropriate pruning practices.

Healthy, well-managed trees can add beauty, shade, environmental benefits, and significant value to your property. But improper tree care can have the opposite effect.

We LOVE trees and truly appreciate everything they do for our world. 🌎🌳

Please protect your investment and, most importantly, protect your trees by making sure they receive the professional care they deserve. ❤️

Improperly Trimmed Trees: What Happens Next?
When trees are excessively or improperly trimmed, they experience significant stress. Removing too much leaf surface reduces the tree's ability to perform photosynthesis, which limits energy production and can disrupt normal water uptake and transpiration.
In response, many trees produce water sprouts—fast-growing shoots that help replace lost foliage. However, these shoots are often weakly attached and can become future failure points.
Additional consequences of over-pruning may include:
Reduced energy reserves
Increased susceptibility to pests and diseases
Sunscald (sunburn) on previously shaded bark and branches
Decline in overall tree health
Partial canopy dieback or, in severe cases, death of the tree
If a tree experiences one or more additional stress events—such as drought, insect infestations, disease, construction damage, or severe weather—within a year of improper pruning, its chances of recovery may be greatly reduced.
Customer Warning:
Before hiring a tree company, consider having your trees evaluated by an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist. A qualified arborist can recommend appropriate pruning practices that promote long-term tree health, safety, and structural integrity.
Proper pruning improves a tree's health; improper pruning can shorten its life.
