“One of the most effective ways to reduce wildfire risk is to create defensible space between your home and surrounding vegetation. Clearing leaves and debris, trimming branches, and spacing out plants can slow a wildfire’s spread and give firefighters room to work safely.”

Good message from the forest service. Trimming branches away from homes, keeping wooden fences from contact with home, replacing dense landscaping against the home with sparser options, using rock instead of mulch against the base of the house, adding trails/roads through larger forested properties, and thinning deadwood out of forests are all ways to help be prepared.
