Luce Architects

Luce Architects LUCE Architects is an anomaly in the field, blending the precision of a skilled architect with the artistic vision of the most imaginative designer.

Christopher Luce, AIA founded LUCE Architects in 2003 with a belief that collaboration with each client is an essential part of a successful project. With more than twenty five years of professional experience and a dedication to design excellence, Christopher Luce has replaced intimidation with inspiration in architecture, helping his clients overcome fears about the design process and encouragin

g collaboration. Even more impressive is the fact the LUCE Architects are so versatile in their talents, equally capable of designing compelling spaces for residential and commercial alike-from luxury homes, upscale restaurants and churches worthy of glossy magazine covers to ambitious townhome villages and 500-unit apartment communities-on both sides of the Delaware River and beyond. Luce attributes his unique skill set to his artistic side and, in some ways, his DNA, “I always wanted to be an artist,” he says, through his father, who worked for a regional builder, suggested his son follow a career path toward architectural design. He pursued hid Bachelor of Architecture degree through the nighttime program at Drexel University while working full time to support his growing family. The experience taught him discipline and the value of hard work, while honing his ability to look at things differently than most architects might.

“When I’m designing a space, I’m thinking about the engineering in the back of my head at the same time,” he says. “It’s a matter of blending art and function. I might go through someone’s house 100 times in my mind throughout the design process just so I know what it’s like to be in their shoes. I want to make sure that I get every angle just right in the design. Our goal is to exceed every client’s expectations.”

Clients aren’t the only ones who have noticed the firm’s skill. The Home Builders Association of Chester and Delaware Counties bestowed Luce Architects with the 2011 Custom Home of the year Award for a ground-up home in Thornbury. In fact, the firm’s trophy case is getting crowded, having won Best Original House Plan awards in 2006 and 2008 from the House Builders Association of Bucks/Montgomery Counties. The most recent winning design, in Chester County, references the French Manor style with a modern flair that Luce describes as “gracious” and “stately.”

Elevated in every sense. ✨ We are thrilled to share a closer look at our latest project in New Hope, perched right on the edge of the Delaware River. While the aesthetic is defined by a harmony of warm wood and rugged stone, the true heart of this design is resiliency.

Given the riverside location, the home is intentionally raised to navigate the floodplain. By elevating the primary living spaces, we’ve achieved two goals:

Safety & Longevity: Providing essential flood protection and peace of mind.

The View: Creating an "among the trees" experience with unobstructed, panoramic views of the water.

The ground level features a protected car port and a stone-clad entry designed to withstand the elements without sacrificing the home’s modern curb appeal.

Materiality matters. 📐

The right siding choice transforms a structure from a simple house into a piece of architecture. Whether it’s the rhythm of vertical slats or the permanence of stone, we design for longevity and light.

What happens when two families dream up one perfect getaway? 🏡✨ You get this—a three-story retreat designed for connection, comfort, and a whole lot of memory-making.

With dual primary suites, a bunkhouse for the kids, space to sleep a crowd, and a kitchen built for serious entertaining (hello, island seating for 8 and wine fridge 🍷👋), this home is equal parts cozy and luxurious. Oversized windows bring the outdoors in, and the timeless exterior is built to last through every season.

Designed for the Golden Hour. 🌅

Great architecture doesn’t disappear when the sun sets—it transforms. For this project, we prioritized a lighting scheme that accentuates the home's textures and silhouettes, creating a warm, inviting glow against the twilight sky.

Swipe to see how the interplay of light and shadow defines the rear terrace and front elevation.

This truly is where heritage calls home. ✨

There’s something unmistakable about the light in Bucks County. For this project, we leaned into the local vernacular—pairing rugged fieldstone with crisp, modern lines to create a home that feels like it has always belonged to these rolling hills.

From the timber-framed porch to the sprawling gables, every detail was designed to honor the bucolic landscape it calls home.
