Yes, you can have a partial shade garden under a walnut tree. Select plants that are juglone tolerant. My cousin Gerald Simcoe gifted me a small (one gallon bucket) of Hakone grass (Japanese forest grass) that grew into this beautiful tall and full grass. You’ll also find ajuga and allium, jack in the pulpit, fiddlehead fern, different varieties of hosta, spiderwort( tradescantia) and painted lady fern.
