SPOT THE DIFFERENCE. 👀
It may look the same on the outside, but it's NOT the same.
On the left: Old lumber. Tight growth rings. Dense. Heavy. Strong. This tree took 80-100 years to grow. It takes a lot more heat to ignite, it burns slower, and it holds its shape.
On the right: New lumber. Wide rings. Light. Soft. Fast-grown in 20-30 years to keep up with demand. It ignites faster, twists, cracks, and warps.
And it's not just the lumber. It's how we built.
Back in the day, things were built right. Carpenters took their time. Framework, decks, houses - everything was built with pride, with real materials, and it was still affordable. Quality was the standard.
Today? Everything is about speed. Slap it up fast, move on to the next one. Inaccuracy, carelessness, man-made synthetics, OSB, plastics, glues, and cheap lumber that hasn't had a chance to mature. Add in the fact that almost everything in our homes now - our furniture, our clothes, our flooring - is synthetic and plastic-based, and it all ignites faster. A fire today spreads 3x faster than it did 40 years ago.
Same goes for what we eat. Looks the same on the plate, but it's not the same quality.
