Looking back on an important conversation about safety and emergency response. Brandon Itzel, Vice President of Operations, recently joined a SoCalGas safety panel to share Doty Bros. Construction Co. experience responding to the December 2025 Castaic gas line explosion.

The discussion highlighted the professionalism, expertise, and safety-first mindset our crews demonstrated while performing critical work to help restore safety during this emergency.

Last week, our Senior Vice President, rebeca Christy and MEI President, Roger Jackson, represented Meruelo Enterprises at the 2026 CPUC Joint Utilities Insurance Stakeholder Benchmarking Forum, hosted by Commissioners Houck and Douglas at SDG&E.

The forum brought together CPUC leadership, utilities, contractors, insurance professionals, and business organizations to discuss practical solutions to the insurance challenges that impact supplier diversity and contractor participation in California's utility industry.

Meruelo Enterprises was proud to contribute our experience and perspective, helping advance the conversation on creating a more inclusive, sustainable, and competitive contracting environment.
