🐎 Where the Sun Learns to Gallop
He rises from the red earth like a prayer given muscle and flame,
a painted horse crowned with wind, feathers, and the memory of old songs.
His mane flies black across the evening sky,
catching sparks from the sinking sun and the breath of the desert.
An eagle circles above him, silent and sure,
as if guarding the road between earth and spirit.
On his hide are signs of story—handprints, circles, buffalo marks,
symbols not carved for decoration, but for remembrance.
Each step he takes seems to wake the ground beneath him,
and every hoofbeat sounds like a drum calling the heart home.
Behind him, the mesas stand in ancient patience,
watching another dusk pour gold into the valleys below.
He does not run from the world; he runs through it with purpose.
The river bends like silver through the wide and open land,
and distant lodges rest in the warm cradle of evening light.
Dust rises around his legs like incense from the earth,
and the ornaments on his chest tremble with living rhythm.
Turquoise, red, black, and white speak across his body,
colors of sky, stone, blood, and bone,
colors of journey, endurance, kinship, and return.
The horse carries more than beauty in his stride—
he carries a strength older than fences,
older than roads, older even than fear.
He moves as though he remembers something the world forgot:
freedom is sacred when it walks beside respect.
In him lives the storm and the stillness after it.
He is the flash of wild courage at the edge of dawn,
yet also the quiet spirit that drinks beside a hidden stream.
The buffalo mark on his side speaks of survival,
the handprint speaks of people,
the sun-circle speaks of the day’s unbroken turning.
Nothing on him stands alone; every symbol belongs to another,
as roots belong to trees and stars belong to night.
Even the eagle above is part of the same teaching:
see far, rise high, but do not forget the land beneath your wings.
So the horse becomes more than an animal in evening light—
he becomes a lesson moving across the plain.
When darkness finally gathers the last embers of sunset,
his silhouette will remain in the heart like a remembered song.
The desert will cool, the river will keep speaking,
and the stars will arrive one by one over stone and grass.
Yet his spirit will continue galloping beyond the horizon,
carrying the prayers of ancestors into tomorrow’s wind.
For some beings are born not only to live,
but to remind others how to stand tall in their own spirit.
And anyone who sees him beneath that burning sky may understand:
to be strong is not to harden,
to be wild is not to wander without meaning,
and to belong to the earth is to honor every step upon it.
