Cold weather reminder ❄️
When outdoor temperatures drop this low, heat pumps are essentially not effective. They rely on pulling heat from the outside air, and when it gets this cold, there just isn’t much heat to pull.
If you have a heat pump system, it’s best to switch your thermostat to Emergency Heat / Electric Strip Heat during extreme cold spells. This allows the electric heat strips to carry the load instead of forcing the heat pump to struggle.
Once outdoor temps climb back into the 30 to 35 degree range, you can safely switch back to normal heat pump operation.
Doing this helps keep your home more comfortable and reduces unnecessary strain on your equipment.
