⛰️ GEOLOGY LESSON: Gray Rose River Rock

Over thousands of years, rushing water from ancient rivers and glacial runoffs tumbled, smoothed, and rounded massive granite formations into the clean, smooth stone we use today. It’s a pretty cool geological history right here in our region, and it’s why Gray Rose river rock looks so distinct!

Here is a quick look at why this stone is a favorite for local landscapes:

Why the "Rose" Color?: The cool grays and charcoals come from classic granite minerals. But those beautiful pink, maroon, and mauve pops of color? That comes from potassium feldspar—the exact same mineral that gives our famous local Pikes Peak granite its iconic pinkish hue!

Built Mountain Tough: Because these are naturally dense granite and quartz blends, they don't fade in our intense mountain sunlight, and they won't crack or fracture during our heavy winter freeze-thaw cycles.

It’s a piece of natural mountain history right in your front yard! 🌲

We just wrapped up a rugged, beautifully shaped 3-row split rail fence project. Best of all, our furry client is absolutely thrilled with his newly expanded, safe territory where he now reigns supreme! 🐾👑

The weather is turning out absolutely beautiful just in time for the weekend! 😎

We are currently wrapping up a great 3-row split rail fence project that has a really cool, unique shape to it. We’ll be heading back on Monday to add some black PVC-coated welded wire to make sure our furry clients stay safe and contained! 🐾

We are moving fast to beat the flakes! ❄️ The team is out here today getting as much done as possible before the snow moves in.

Currently mid-project on this retaining wall, and despite the weather's best efforts, we’re on track to have this job wrapped up and looking solid before the weekend. 🏔️🏗️

Howdy neighbors! Gardening in Teller County is a different beast, and with our short season, picking mountain-tough plants is the only way to ensure they last. 🌲

One of my favorites for our climate is the Purple Salvia. These are incredible perennial powerhouses because they are drought tolerant, somewhat deer resistant, and loved by pollinators. 🐝 Since they are perennials, they will go dormant through our tough winters and come back even stronger each spring. This makes them a perfect long term investment for a mountain landscape.

The wife and I actually just scored a steal on some beautiful larger Salvias at Costco for only $20 a piece! 💸 We’ll be keeping ours inside for a few more weeks to let the soil warm up and avoid these last spring freezes, giving them the best chance to thrive for seasons to come.

Monday’s look a little different when your desk is an aspen grove. We’ll spend the week clearing out sections of property, removing dead aspens, and handling some critical fire mitigation. 🪵🪚

It’s hard work, but giving these healthy trees room to breathe makes it all worth it. Just another day of keeping our mountain community safe and beautiful. 🚜🏔️🌲

Howdy! We just wrapped up nearly 200 linear feet of clean, classic 2 row split rail fencing, featuring a custom oversized gate built with rough-cut wood from Casey’s Lumber for a perfect match! 🌲👷‍♂️

In our mountain terrain, you can’t cut corners. That’s why every single post on this job was set with gravel and concrete. We don’t just "set" posts; we lock 'em in! 🤠🐻
