No matter where you land on the political spectrum, we can all hold gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy in this country. As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, there is a fitting irony in working on an addition and renovation to a farmhouse whose original limestone section was also built in 1776. Although parts of the home have shifted out of plumb and square over time, the corner where we added this new section remains remarkably true after all these years. Old farmhouses always bring challenges, but the reward is being entrusted to add another chapter to a legacy home shaped by generations of craftspeople who poured their blood, sweat, and tears into it. Here are a few exterior photos and interior progress shots as we work to finish the project two weeks ahead of the homeowners deadline.
This project was designed by Roost Architecture, Inc and crafted by Melhorn Builders Inc and its many trade partners.
