Saturday was a busy day all around De Soto!

We started the morning at the DeSoto Goes Pink walk/run, an event Brooks Electric is proud to sponsor! We then headed over to set up for the De Soto #73 School District’s Trunk or Treat event held at the De Soto Intermediate

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support these wonderful community events and are always glad to be a part of what’s happening in De Soto!

There are a lot of electrical contractors out there, but when you choose an IBEW Local 1 contractor like us, you’re choosing a contractor backed by some of the best training and continuing education resources in the electrical industry.

The electrical industry is constantly evolving, and we believe that staying up to date with the latest codes, safety standards, and industry practices is essential to providing our customers with the highest quality workmanship.

We have recently had the opportunity to complete several continuing education and certification courses including:

-NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training
-First Aid, CPR & AED Certification
-2026 National Electrical Code (NEC) Significant Changes Course

These courses are just a few examples of the continuing education opportunities available through IBEW Local 1 and the St. Louis Electrical Industry Training Center.

At Brooks Electric, we take pride in being a union electrical contractor. Our commitment to education doesn’t end when the apprenticeship program is completed. It’s an ongoing investment in our members, our customers, and the quality of work we provide.

KIDstruction Week 2026 was a huge success! Glad to have been able to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1 team and be part of such a great event where the proceeds go to St. Louis Children's Area of Greatest Need, a fund that helps St. Louis Children's patients, families and the community when they need it the most.

The fall semester is underway at the St. Louis Electrical Industry Training Center and we’re honored to share once again that Dustin has the privilege of teaching the Codeology course.

Continuing education is an important part of what sets IBEW electricians apart. Through Codeology and the many other courses offered at the Training Center, our members have the opportunity to continue building their knowledge and skills throughout their careers.

Teaching Codeology provides the opportunity to work alongside fellow IBEW Brothers and Sisters as we study the National Electrical Code and more importantly, how to apply it to real-world situations in the field. It also keeps us engaged with the latest Code requirements and changes that directly affect the work we perform every day.

This commitment to education, training, and continued improvement is one of the reasons IBEW electricians are among the most skilled and qualified electricians in the workforce.

We are grateful for the opportunity to play a small part in continuing that tradition and helping prepare our members to be the absolute best in the business.
