🔥 Home Safety Tip: Is it time to update your smoke detectors? 🔥
We talk a lot about kitchen remodels, new decks, and fresh floors, but nothing is more important than keeping your home and family safe!
Did you know that smoke detectors have a lifespan? Most manufacturers recommend replacing the entire unit every 10 years, even if the test button still beeps when you push it.
Here are a few quick safety reminders:
✅ Test monthly: Make it a habit to press the test button once a month.
✅ Change batteries yearly: A great rule of thumb is to swap out batteries every fall when the clocks change.
✅ Check the date: Take down your detector and look at the manufacture date stamped on the back. If it’s approaching or past 10 years, it’s time for a replacement.
✅ Upgrade to interconnected or 10-year sealed units: Modern detectors can link together so that if one sounds, they all sound—giving your family precious extra time.
Whether you need help installing hardwired detectors, mounting them on high ceilings, or getting your home up to safety codes during a remodel, Ballard Construction is always here to help.
