We begin by inspecting your property to see if or what is damaged. Keep in mind that insurance claims are limited to 1 year from the storm date. Any claims made after the 1 year period are not covered so urgency is needed. Only Allstate does not have storms expire after 1 year.
After we inspect your property to determine if you have damage we proceed by letting you know your options. We provide you with information regarding your options to either use insurance or direct pay (over 95% of TomKat customers receive payment from their insurance company).
If you do NOT qualify to go through your insurance it’s okay! We can easily return to your home after another storm and inspection your property again. OR if you prefer, we can provide you with a retail quote.
If you do qualify, let us do all the work for you. TomKat will arrange for a mutual inspection of your property with your insurance company to make sure all of the required repairs, labor and materials are correct. We work with the insurance company on your behalf.
What We Look For
By inspecting your property and knowing the types of storms that have passed through your area we look and see what kind of damage your property has sustained. Small hail can damage one thing but not another and depending on your materials quality and age there could be more or less damage with specific sized hail and certain wind speeds. We then can tell you if we can help you get the claim awarded and approximately how much of the exterior would be replaced (roof only, siding only or if you did not sustain enough damage). This way you know ahead of time what might possibly be covered on your property.
A knowledgeable contractor in storm damage and insurance claims can help you get your roof and any part of your exterior approved for replacement.

FAQ
What Can Be Repaired or Replaced When Damaged by Hail and Wind?
The size of the hail and speed of the wind determine what possible damage can occur along with the condition and age of the materials of your property. Your home may have damage to its roof, gutters, downspouts, aluminum siding and aluminum window wraps along with other soft metals (i.e. roof vents, flashing, etc.). All of those materials can be replaced if they have sustained damage. This does not mean that in one storm all of those things will e damaged. For example smaller hail may damage your aluminum siding, gutters & downspouts, window wraps and soft metals but not your roof.
A roof is expensive, how can I pay for it?
Several ways, TomKat specializes in insurance claims so most homeowners pay almost nothing to fix their home if they have storm damage. If you do not qualify for a new roof or siding through storm damage TomKat can give you a retail quote and make it affordable by providing you with financing.
Will my premiums go up if I file a claim?
The answer can vary. When a storm hits an area and only a few property owners file a claim the insurance company has two options by law: A) The provider may raise the premiums of everyone in that area as a group or B) No increase takes place. Insurance providers are not allowed to raise premiums on individual claims made for hail and wind storms so they will not raise it just for filing a claim. They can however raise the premiums on the whole area that was hit by the storms so you could potentially have your rates raised because other property owners are doing work to their own home. At that point most property owners feel like they should file a claim since they are potentially paying for other property owners repairs within the area.
