Lauren Chipman and Meg Stevens are kicking off Design Month at CDA! 🎨
 
This month, our team will be jumping into design charrettes, mood mining sessions and creative challenges that bring people together from every corner of the firm. We’ll also be heading to Chicago’s Armitage Avenue to explore emerging retail trends and visit Faherty, one of our recent retail design projects.
 
For us, Design Month is a chance to step back, get inspired, and remember why we love what we do.

🤍 The best part of any project is seeing people enjoy the finished space.
 
The new Uncommon James store in Austin, TX is officially open, and seeing the space come alive during the Grand Opening event was something special for our team. Every project starts as an idea, but there’s nothing quite like watching people experience it for the first time.
 
Thank you to the Uncommon James team for the partnership and invitation to celebrate this milestone together.

Lauren’s first day at Chipman Design Architecture was also her 32nd birthday. A little more than a year later, she was named CEO.
 
Speaking with students at the University of Michigan, Lauren reflected on the uncertainty of entering a new industry, the confidence it took to keep moving forward, and the moment she realized people were looking to her for leadership.

At the University of Michigan, CDA CEO Lauren Chipman shared the story of the conversation that changed her life. After 20 years dedicated to music, she found herself facing an unexpected question from her father: “Do you want to join Chipman Design?”

The decision wasn’t easy. Music had been her identity for most of her life. But sometimes the opportunities that challenge us the most are the ones that help us grow in ways we never imagined.

Today, Lauren leads Chipman Design Architecture as CEO, proving that career paths don’t have to be linear to be successful.

We had a great time at our company picnic at the Lakeview Center in Des Plaines! Between the games, good food, and watching the kids run around all afternoon, it was a nice chance to catch up with coworkers outside of work.

A huge thank you to Meghann and Bree for all the planning, organizing, and behind-the-scenes work that made the day possible. 👏

And shout-out to Giuseppe’s Pizzeria & Catering for the delicious food! 🥖🙌
