Termite damage around an entry door in Collinsville. The homeowner first noticed the door sticking. Once we opened it up, the framing had been eaten out behind the trim.
Termites had been working that wood for a while before anything showed on the surface. That's normal by the time you can see it from outside, there's usually more behind it.
We cut out and replaced the damaged framing, and hung the new door. Then adjusted it so it swings, latches and seals properly.
Worth saying plainly: repairing the wood does not deal with the termites. If you find damage like this, you need a treatment as well as a repair, or you will be doing the repair again in a few years.
