More multifamily projects in the books around the Omaha-Lincoln metro corridor! 👊

Our crews have had the opportunity to work on two multifamily developments in the area: Central at South Haymarket (CaSH) in Downtown Lincoln and Union at Bluffs Run in Council Bluffs.

At CaSH, our scope covered quite a bit throughout the property, including painting of gypsum board and CMU walls, ceilings, exposed structure, doors and frames, unit trim, handrails, guardrails, bollards, exterior siding and more.

Over at Union at Bluffs Run, we completed painting of gypsum board walls and ceilings, hollow metal doors and frames, plus wood doors and frames, and casing throughout the units.

Different projects, similar goal: get in, do exceptional work, and help keep things moving toward the finish line.

It’s been great getting our crews on more projects throughout the Lincoln/Omaha/Council Bluffs area, and we’re excited to keep building on that!

A Monday well spent out on the course! ⛳️

JC Toland was proud to be a hole sponsor for this year’s Master Builders of Iowa Construction Golf Classic & Smoker! Our team had a great time catching up with familiar faces, meeting some new ones, and enjoying a day alongside so many others in Iowa’s construction industry.

Summer is starting to wrap up, and so are a lot of the projects we’ve had the opportunity to work on in schools across Iowa.

As students and staff get ready to head back into the classroom, we’re grateful to the school districts who trusted our team to help freshen up, maintain, and improve their spaces this summer.

Huge thank you to the following school districts for allowing us to be a small part of getting your schools ready for another year: Ankeny Schools, West Des Moines, Des Moines Christian Schools, Newton, West Liberty, Storm Lake, Alta-Aurelia, Ames, Iowa City, College (Prairie), Indianola, Clarke , Mid-Prairie, Southeast Polk, and Norwalk

And we’re not quite done yet! We’re looking forward to getting started with Clear Creek Amana CSD and Monticello CSD in the coming weeks for some exciting projects - stay tuned! 😉

Alright guys, another milestone checked off over at Simpson College, Pfeiffer Dining Hall!

Since our last update, the space has really started to come together. Drywall is up and finished, fresh paint is bringing the space to life, and our crews are putting the finishing touches on the acoustical ceiling tile throughout both the first and second floors.

It's been great working with Story Construction and we still have some specialty finishes coming up so stay tuned! 😊

Every week, our project managers, superintendents, estimators, and leadership team gather around one table for what we call our 'Manpower Meeting'.

On the surface, it looks like a spreadsheet. In reality, it's where we coordinate dozens of moving pieces; project schedules, possible hurdles, material deliveries, weather, staffing needs, customer expectations, and the support our field crews need to be successful.

Each conversation has the same goal: making sure our teams have the right people, in the right place, at the right time, with the resources they need to do their best work.

Our painters, carpenters, drywall finishers, and specialty crews are the ones bringing these projects to life. Our job in the office is to remove obstacles, solve problems before they happen, and keep projects moving forward as smoothly as possible.

Great projects don't happen by accident. They happen because of our exceptional people in the field, backed by strategic planning behind the scenes.

Not all fire protection systems are visible, but they're some of the most important components of a building. 🔥

Intumescent coatings are passive fire protection (PFP) systems designed to protect structural steel during a fire. Under normal conditions, the coating looks much like traditional paint. However, when exposed to high temperatures, it undergoes a chemical reaction that causes it to expand into a thick, insulating char.
The expanded char acts as a thermal barrier, reducing heat transfer to the steel substrate. By delaying the steel's temperature rise, the coating helps the structure meet its required fire-resistance rating and maintain its load-bearing capacity for the duration specified by the design.

Proper application is just as important as the coating itself. Achieving the required dry film thickness (DFT), following manufacturer specifications, and meeting project-specific fire ratings all require experienced applicators and rigorous quality control.

The Union Park Rocket Slide has been part of Des Moines for generations, and we were honored to help bring new life to this local landmark.

Our team handled everything from abrasive blasting and specialty coatings to fiberglass restoration and non-slip safety coatings, combining shop-applied finishes with carefully contained on-site work to ensure this community favorite is ready for years of fun ahead.
