See some guys up in the air in front of the Des Moines Civic Center at the corner of Walnut & 3rd? That’s us 👀

The JC Toland crew is currently prepping and painting the underside surfaces and structural steel (ask us about Tnemec Company, Inc.'s Series 118 Uni-Bond Mastic and Series 73 Endura-Shield) throughout the skywalk system. From the Neal Smith Federal Building to the 3rd and Court Parking Ramp, we’re proud to keep one of the city’s busiest walkways looking sharp.

Getting a little up close and personal with the metal stud framing work at Simpson College’s revamped Dining Hall. 🔨

This phase of our scope is officially wrapped, and our crew is moving on to drywall, then paint, then ACT (and keep an eye out on a future post for some specialty finishes). The existing A-frame design on this building has made this project especially fun to watch come together, and we’re excited to work with Story Construction to see it all come together at the finish line.

Business on the Green hosted by the Greater Omaha Chamber was a HUGE success! 🏌️⛳

We had the chance to meet a ton of awesome people, make new connections, and have some genuinely great conversations throughout the day. Events like this are always a good reminder of how strong and supportive the Omaha business community really is.

Big thanks to everyone who stopped by, chatted with our team, and spent part of the day with us. We’re grateful to have been part of it and already looking forward to coming back next year as an exclusive hole sponsor. 🙂‍↕️

Our team wrapped up additional painting and finish work out at Prairie Ridge Church, helping bring several updated spaces together with clean, cohesive, finishes throughout the project. The scope included painting exposed mechanical, electrical and plumbing ahead of K-13 installation to control acoustics, painting added and existing walls, doors and frames and added stained wood elements across the facility.

We also completed prep and lime wash work on the Chapel west wall using INNOTOP Interior Mineral Paint, European Lime Wash, and a clear matte flat finish to achieve the final look the space called for.

Projects like this are always rewarding for our team because it’s the detailed finish work and coordination across multiple scopes that really tie everything together.

Out of the office and into the ballpark! 😎⚾️

We had a blast getting some of the office crew together for an Iowa Cubs game this week. Always good to trade emails and estimates for hot dogs and baseball every once in a while. And... we caught some t-shirts!

SAFETY IS EVERYONE'S JOB. 👏👷‍♂️🦺

Recognition like this means a lot because it reflects the standards our team brings to work every day. We’re proud to spotlight FOUR JCTP employees who were acknowledged for their strong focus on safety and jobsite awareness.

This feedback came from our project at the Des Moines Airport with The Weitz Company - Turner Construction Company. Taking time to involve the crew, talk through hazards, and review each step of the work is what helps keep everyone, and the project, safely moving forward.

Shining a light on Tim Blank, one of our foremen here at JC Toland who’s been with us for 5 years now 👏

Tim is one of those guys who just consistently shows up and delivers at a high level. His vinyl work is especially strong, clean, precise, and dialed in every time. One of his favorite jobs with JCTP was the National Guard Reserve project. It was a big one and really gave him a chance to see how much detail matters when you’re working at that scale.

Since joining the team, he’s picked up a lot along the way, including learning high performance coatings and mural installs. He’s always been willing to jump in and expand what he can do in the field.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find him reading one of the many books he owns or out on the golf course trying to shave a few strokes off his game.

And on the bucket list, he's working on planning his honeymoon trip since getting married last Fall.

We’re lucky to have him on the team. Here’s to 5 years and counting 🤝

Progress continues at the Oskaloosa YMCA aquatic facility, where our team is executing a multi-phase coating and surface preparation scope across both pool systems.

On the recreational pool side, finish coatings are complete, delivering a durable, high-performance architectural finish designed for long-term service in a high-moisture, high-traffic environment.

On the competition pool side, surface preparation is currently underway utilizing a dustless blasting system, allowing for a safe and controlled environment to prepare the precast and poured concrete pool surfaces for High-Performance Coating (HPC). For concrete surfaces JC Toland ensures the correct Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) is achieved to ensure a permanent bond between the prepared surface and the HPC primer and finish coat.

As part of broader industry advancements, and especially relevant on Earth Day, methods like dustless blasting continue to support more efficient operations through reduced waste, improved containment, and the ability to utilize recyclable media, all while maintaining strict performance standards.

Each phase of work is being completed with adherence to surface prep requirements, environmental controls, and coating manufacturer specifications to ensure long-term durability and system performance.

Sharing something a little different this week 👷‍♂️

This is a look inside one of our Season Opener Foreman Meetings, where our field leaders get aligned before the busy season kicks off. Led by our Senior Superintendent, Project Manager, Safety Director, and other JCTP leaders, our foremen get a refreshed look at key expectations across safety and PPE, scheduling, efficiency, and overall jobsite standards.

It’s all about making sure every project runs smoothly, safely, and professionally before we even step on-site. When our leadership is dialed in, everything else follows.

It’s not every day you get to go to the top of the tallest building in Nebraska, and the view up there doesn’t disappoint.

Our President, Jeremy, and Safety Director, Alyssa, recently visited the Mutual of Omaha Tower to take in the progress from above. The project has now officially reached its topping ceremony, marking the placement of the final piece of structural steel.

We’re proud to be part of this build from the inside, handling detailed interior finishes throughout the tower and helping bring this space to life, one surface at a time.

Projects like this take a solid team showing up every day and doing the work right. Grateful to contribute to something that will leave a lasting mark on Omaha.
