MAKING A DIFFERENCE ONE PROPERTY AT A TIME!

Last night, Tanner and Brittany attended a documentary screening focused on prairie restoration, conservation, and the importance of protecting and rebuilding our natural landscapes.

What was supposed to be a documentary followed by a 30-minute Q&A turned into an evening of nearly three hours of learning, conversation, and inspiration!

And we couldn't have been more grateful for the experience!

During the discussion, Brittany spoke about something that doesn't always get enough attention: the financial and educational barriers that prevent younger generations from becoming involved in conservation.

It's one thing to encourage people to restore native habitats, establish prairies, and improve their land. It's another to recognize that many families are already struggling financially, and the cost of seed, equipment, land, and long-term maintenance can make those goals feel impossible.

But conservation doesn't have to begin with acres of prairie or thousands of dollars. It can begin in your own backyard. And something pretty incredible happened.

After Brittany finished speaking, the room applauded! 👏

A room filled with individuals passionate about conservation recognized and encouraged the work we're doing and the direction we're heading.

It was an incredibly meaningful moment and a reminder to KEEP GOING!

Earlier this year, Brittany earned her Master Conservationist Certificate, further expanding her knowledge of Iowa's natural resources, land stewardship, and conservation practices.

And while Fisher Services Plus LLC has always provided lawn care, landscaping, property maintenance, and outdoor services, our vision continues to grow.

We believe responsible property care can go hand in hand with conservation. That means looking beyond simply making a property look nice and considering its long-term health, sustainability, and environmental impact.

Supporting healthy soil and vegetation. Encouraging native plants and pollinator-friendly landscapes. Understanding the importance of trees and responsible land management. Exploring opportunities to restore and improve underutilized spaces. Continuing our education so we can make more informed decisions and better serve our customers.

We certainly don't have everything figured out, and we have plenty more to learn. But we're committed to growing our knowledge and finding ways to incorporate conservation-minded practices into the work we do. Because taking care of your property should also mean thinking about the future of that property.

We're incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this discussion and connect with others who share a passion for protecting Iowa's natural landscapes.

And we're especially grateful for the encouragement to continue moving forward.

Small changes matter. Small properties matter. And the work we do today can make a difference for generations to come.

We’re doing something a little unusual around here today…

We’re taking the afternoon OFF! 😂

After an incredibly busy season, moving, weeks of rain throwing schedules for a loop, and what feels like nonstop work, our bodies have finally told us it’s time to slow down for a minute.

So we’re listening.

And what does a lawn, landscape and outdoor-loving crew watch on their afternoon off?

AN IOWA PRAIRIE DOCUMENTARY, of course. 😂🌾

Because apparently even when we’re not outside working in nature, we’re inside learning about it!

I’ve been looking forward to watching this since I came across it. So, “rest” today. Back at it tomorrow. 💪

Ps: multiple showings across Iowa into December, check it out for yourself!

We are hopeful after today the rain will be done and we can begin to start drying out. 🤞🏻

According to the forecast, today is supposed to be the last rainy day for a while — and after nearly THREE WEEKS of this, I think we’ve all earned a break!

Mowing, cleanups, dirt work, landscaping and other outdoor projects have either been delayed, squeezed into the small windows Mother Nature gave us, or put on hold altogether. At some point, there simply isn’t a responsible way to keep putting equipment on saturated properties without risking ruts, turf damage, creating a bigger mess, or doing work that isn’t up to our standards.

Yesterday I spoke with a manager of a larger outdoor service company similar to ours. He mentioned that if the rain continued, they were getting to the point of potentially having to put employees on unemployment because there simply hadn’t been enough workable days.

As strange as it sounds, hearing that gave me a little reassurance. We weren’t alone.

Companies big and small have been fighting the exact same battle — trying to keep people working, customers taken care of, and projects moving while Mother Nature repeatedly says, “Not today.” 😂🌧️

Now we’re ready for some SUNSHINE. ☀️🙌

As things finally begin drying out, we’ll be working through mowing and our growing list of projects as quickly and responsibly as we can. Please remember that even when the rain stops, some properties will need additional time before they’re actually ready for equipment.

To every single customer who has been patient, flexible and understanding through this mess — THANK YOU. 💚

We haven’t forgotten about you. We’re still here. We’re still working. And we’re more than ready to start digging ourselves out of this weather backlog!

Here’s hoping Mother Nature finally gives all of us a chance to catch up. ☀️🌱

Today is Tanner’s birthday! If you see him out and about this week, make sure to wish him a Happy Birthday! 🎉

Mother Nature… we get it. You win.

We simply have no words for the amount of rain we’ve received lately and how much of a damper it has put on ALL of the things.

We’re doing our best to keep our heads above water (quite literally at this point 😅) and keep up with mowing whenever conditions allow. Unfortunately, many of our **“other” projects have had to be put on pause** and are stacking up while we wait for enough dry weather to safely and properly get them done.

For a while, we were trying to sneak projects into every little 2-hour dry window we could find, but constantly chasing Mother Nature became exhausting — for us, our equipment, and the properties we’re trying to take care of.

So, we’re adjusting and rolling with it. 🌧️➡️☀️

Please bear with us. We haven’t forgotten about you or your project! As soon as Mother Nature decides to play nice again, we’ll be working our way through that list and getting caught back up.

And please KEEP reaching out with new projects! We’re still quoting (yes in the rain!) and adding work to the schedule — we'll stay in touch and get you taken care of as weather and ground conditions allow.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding. We appreciate it more than you know.

Now… can someone please turn the rain off for a few days or weeks to catch up?! 😂

🌧️ **Mowing Schedule Update** 🌧️

After nearly two weeks of excessive rain and very little sunshine, lawns throughout our area are extremely saturated. We were unable to mow last week because of the constant rainfall, and unfortunately, many yards still haven’t had enough time to dry out.

We know the grass is getting long, and we are just as anxious to get everyone caught up! However, mowing waterlogged ground can cause deep ruts, tear up the turf, create excessive clumping, and leave wet grass stuck to homes, vehicles, sidewalks, landscaping, and equipment.

We will be evaluating each property and watching the weather closely. If your lawn is too wet to mow without causing damage, we may need to delay or skip it until conditions improve. Some properties may dry sooner than others, so the schedule may look a little different than usual while we work through the backlog.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We would much rather temporarily delay service than cause lasting damage to your property. As soon as Mother Nature gives us a break, we’ll be working hard to get everyone caught up! We will be reaching out to everyone as well!

At this point, asking “What DOES Fisher Services PLUS do?” is the harder question. 😂

The latest adventure: helping Elevated Events Co get balloon arches and decor ready for a BIG event at Adventureland. 🎈🎢

Tree work? Yep.
Landscaping? Yep.
Hauling sheds? Apparently.
Balloon arches at an amusement park? Add it to the list. 😂

When our people need an extra set of hands, we show up — even if the tools look a little different that day.

Fisher Services PLUS… heavy emphasis on the PLUS. 🤣💪

Ps: go check out Elevated Events Co for ANY party planning needs! Support another small business!

FSP Emergency Storm & Water Cleanup

Water removal • Flooded basements • Drying equipment • Wet material removal • Debris hauling • Storm cleanup • Emergency tarping • Rain garden • Rain Barrels • Gutter Cleaning

We are hearing a concern from the public that the plumbers are excessively backlogged. Rightfully so! Rain is in the forecast for several more days yet. We are here to help!

Please note: We are not plumbers. We can’t fix anything pertaining to plumbing. We can help pump any basement as long as water is not near any electrical outlets, bring in dehumidifier and/ or fans to help dry it out. We can help clean gutters, erosion control with water shed, rain gardens, etc.
