Your Furnace Has Been Keeping Secrets All Summer

Josiah says fall tune-ups are basically a detective job. You open up a furnace that's been sitting dark and quiet since April, and it always has a story to tell.

Some of what he finds is pretty routine: dust buildup on the heat exchanger, a filter that gave up somewhere around June, a blower wheel that sounds like it swallowed a marble. But then there are the other discoveries. A mouse nest tucked against the burner assembly. A wasp situation nobody knew about. One time, a single flip-flop. Nobody has ever explained the flip-flop.
