Customers walking in. Locksmith working on the door. Both at the same time. πŸͺπŸ”§

This brass handleset is on a glass storefront door. The cylinder came out, the plate came off, the hardware got serviced, and the whole thing happened on the sidewalk during business hours. Nobody flipped the sign to CLOSED.

That's the part people don't expect. When a shop door lock starts sticking, spinning, or refusing to catch, most owners assume they'll lose a morning or a whole handleset. Usually it's neither. The cylinder gets pulled, the plate gets serviced or rekeyed, and the door is back to normal before the coffee's cold. β˜•

Commercial door lock service from Red Rocks Locksmith covers storefront handlesets, levers, deadbolts, panic bars, closers, rekeying, and master key systems. Everything on the list: https://www.redrockslocksmith.com/services/commercial-door-lock-service/

Serving businesses in Denver, North Denver, Arvada, Boulder, Evergreen, Longmont, and Fort Collins.

That pile of brass on top of the safe? Two hours ago, zero keys existed for it. πŸ”‘βœ¨

An electronic keypad safe landed on our bench with a tubular key override and no key. Tubular keys are the round hollow ones, and no, the hardware store kiosk can't make them. Here's what happened instead πŸ‘‡

1️⃣ Safe on the bench, tubular key machine set up (slide 1)
2️⃣ Blanks cut to match the lock
3️⃣ Every single key tested in the override before it left (slide 2)

No drilling. No prying. No "sorry, you'll need a new safe." Just the right machine and someone who knows how to run it. πŸ”§

Safes show up in commercial locksmith work all the time: cash drops behind the counter, pharmacy cabinets, document safes in offices, hotel room safes. When the batteries die or the code goes with a former manager, the override key is the way back in. If you don't have one, we can make one.

Safe lockouts, override keys, combination changes, and every other lock in your building: https://www.redrockslocksmith.com/services/commercial-door-lock-service/

This little cylinder knows the code to its own key. We just asked it nicely. πŸ”ŽπŸ”‘

What you're looking at: a Kwikset lever lock, the cylinder pulled, sitting on a decoder while our tech reads the pin depths and writes down the code. Thirty seconds of bench work that means the lock can get a brand-new key cut by code, a fresh rekey, or be matched to every other door in the building. No drilling, no guesswork, no ripping out hardware that still works fine.

Lever handles like this are on office doors, shop back rooms, clinics, and rental units all over Denver. When one sticks, spins, or the key walks off with an ex-employee, this is the kind of fix that gets you back to work fast. ⚑

This is the bench side of a Yale mortise lock restoration. Twisted brass thumb-latch, pierced escutcheons, round k**b, the cylinder, and a cast iron lock case that had roughly a hundred years of dust and hardened oil packed inside.

Here's the whole process, in order πŸ‘‡

πŸ” Case opened, every lever and spring pulled out
🧽 Everything cleaned, worn parts swapped, mechanism greased
πŸ›‘οΈ Corrosion protection sprayed on the case
✨ Every piece of brass polished by hand
πŸ”§ Back together, back on the door, no modern retrofit

Swipe to the end for the man doing the work. That's not a stock photo, that's our bench. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”§

Most people call us for antique lock repair because the door sticks. Restoration is the part they don't know to ask for, and it's the part that makes an old entry look like it did the day the house was finished.

Look at this door. Now imagine putting a big-box-store lever handle on it. 😬

Stained glass, dark oak, a twisted brass thumb-latch with pierced escutcheons, and a Yale mortise lock that's been doing its job since roughly the time your great-grandparents were kids. When a lock like this gets stiff, the temptation is to swap it for something modern. That means cutting the door and binning hardware you can't buy anymore.

Here's what we did instead πŸ”§

1️⃣ Pulled the lock case out of the door
2️⃣ Opened it up (slide 2, that's a century of grime)
3️⃣ Took out every lever, spring, and hub (slide 3)
4️⃣ Cleaned, replaced worn parts, lubricated, reassembled
5️⃣ Back on the door, brass gleaming, bolt throwing clean (slides 4 and 5)

No retrofit. No new hardware. Just the original lock, ready for another long stretch of service. ✨

This lock is somewhere around 100 years old. It just got another 100. πŸ”‘βœ¨

A Corbin mortise lock off a front door, with its original brass thumb-latch handle, cylinder, k**b, and escutcheon. A century of dust, dried oil, and Colorado winters had the mechanism barely moving. Most locksmiths would say "replace it with something modern."

We don't do that to a lock like this. Here's what happened instead πŸ‘‡

1️⃣ Pulled the full set off the door
2️⃣ Opened the case and took out every single internal part
3️⃣ Cleaned, lubricated, and replaced what was worn
4️⃣ Polished the brass down to the metal
5️⃣ Put it all back together, working like new

Swipe through to watch it go from tarnished and stuck to gleaming and smooth. Slide 10 is the good part. 😍

He lost the only key to his house. Thirteen locks. Zero keys. 😬

Most people assume that means changing or rekeying every single lock. That's the expensive answer, and it's usually not the necessary one.

Here's what happened at our shop instead πŸ”§

1️⃣ He brought in one Schlage cylinder from the house
2️⃣ Our tech took it apart and read the pins inside
3️⃣ Wrote down the code, cut fresh keys on the code machine
4️⃣ Reassembled the cylinder and handed him working keys

Because his locks were keyed alike, those new keys opened all 13 doors. No new hardware, no rekey, no service van. Just a locksmith who knows how to make a key from the lock itself. πŸ”‘βœ¨

Swipe through to see the cylinder apart, the code going down on paper, and the finished keys.

Not sure whether you need a lock change, a rekey, or a key made from your lock? Here's how we decide: https://www.redrockslocksmith.com/project/lock-change-rekey-existing-locks/

The least glamorous photo we'll post this month, and one of the most important jobs we do. πŸ”§

This is commercial door hardware repair: a tap wrench, some lubricant, and a technician cutting clean new threads so a fastener bites properly instead of wobbling loose again in a month. Then the brackets get secured, the alignment gets checked, and the door goes back to doing its one job flawlessly: opening all day and locking tight at night.

Here's the thing about storefront doors. They're the hardest-working hardware in any business. Hundreds of cycles a day, every day, in Colorado sun, wind, and snow. When something starts to loosen, drag, or rattle, it never fixes itself, it just picks the worst possible Friday night to quit entirely. πŸ˜…

Our mobile locksmiths handle commercial door repair, panic bar service, door closers, lock replacement, and rekeying right at your storefront, across the whole Denver metro: Denver, North Denver, Arvada, Boulder, Evergreen, Longmont, and Fort Collins.

Got a door that's been "acting a little weird lately"? That's the moment to call, not after it fails.

The tools go where the problem is. That's the rule. 🧰

This little keypad safe wasn't going anywhere, so our technician came to it. Tool bag on top, screwdrivers on the floor, and the job handled right there in the room. No hauling a safe across town, no waiting for a service window, just a locksmith showing up with everything needed to sort it out on the spot.

Small electronic safes are sneaky. They sit quietly in a closet or a nightstand for years, and then one day the batteries die, the code goes missing, or the keypad just stops answering. And of course the one thing you need is inside. πŸ™ƒ

That's exactly the kind of call mobile locksmith service was made for. Same visit, same technician, whether it's a stubborn safe, a home lockout, a lost car key, or a lock that needs replacing.

We bring the workshop to you across the entire Denver metro: Denver, North Denver, Arvada, Boulder, Evergreen, Longmont, and Fort Collins.

A deposit safe is one of the few pieces of equipment a cash-handling business cannot operate without, and one of the least likely to be on anyone's maintenance schedule. πŸ”

This week our technician opened and serviced a commercial AMSEC deposit safe, a mechanical dial model with time control protection. With the door open, the job moved to the mechanism behind it: inspecting the lock body, bolt work, and relocker to confirm the safe would remain reliable rather than just functional for the moment. 🏭

For business owners and facilities managers across the Front Range, two points are worth noting.

Send us a message at [email protected]

First, mechanical safe locks wear predictably. A dial that needs extra tries, a combination that occasionally fails to catch, or a handle that feels stiff are early signals. Addressing them during a scheduled visit costs a fraction of an emergency opening when the safe refuses to release the day's deposits.

Second, professional safe opening preserves the asset. Non-destructive entry keeps the safe in service. Forced entry typically means replacing the safe entirely, plus downtime. πŸ’ͺ

Red Rocks Locksmith provides commercial safe opening, safe lock repair, combination changes, and deposit safe maintenance for businesses in Denver, North Denver, Arvada, Boulder, Evergreen, Longmont, and Fort Collins.
