Last Week, COMTO Colorado helped bring our community together to celebrate Phil Washington’s well earned retirement and recognize the impact of his leadership.

Throughout his career, Phil has been a strong advocate for small and minority-owned businesses. He helped create meaningful opportunities at the airport and encouraged airlines and industry partners to give small businesses a genuine chance to compete, contribute, and grow. Our success today reflects the collective work of many leaders, partners, and businesses. Phil has been a valued part of that progress, helping open doors and create pathways for small and minority-owned businesses to succeed.

We thank Phil for his partnership, advocacy, and commitment to expanding opportunity. Please join us in wishing him all the best in retirement and in the next chapter of his journey! 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Yasmin Maher on earning her Master of Science in Construction Management from Colorado State University!

With more than 12 years of experience in construction, Yasmin pursued her master’s degree to strengthen the academic foundation of her career and continue growing professionally. Throughout her graduate journey, she maintained a 4.0 GPA while working part-time as a Scheduler at Gilmore, serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and President of the Graduate Student Council, and representing CSU in the ASC Competition. Now that she has completed her degree, we are excited to have Yasmin join us full-time as a Scheduler. She has already become an incredible asset to our team, and we look forward to seeing the impact she will continue to make at Gilmore.

Reflecting on this milestone, Yasmin shared that graduating represents both the completion of one important chapter and the beginning of another. She also expressed her gratitude to those who supported her throughout the journey. She thanks Enrique Elizondo for giving her the opportunity to join Gilmore and for his support and understanding throughout her graduate studies, Tanieka Griffin for always being willing to help her navigate obstacles along the way, and Steve King for his technical guidance, mentorship, and continuous support.

Most importantly, Yasmin thanks her husband, whose support helped her balance the demands of family life, graduate school, teaching, and work. She also credits her son as her greatest motivation throughout the journey, sharing that his smile and love continually reminded her why she was working so hard.

Her advice and reminder throughout the journey says it best: “Growth begins where your comfort zone ends.” Yasmin’s dedication to learning, leadership, and continuous growth is a wonderful reflection of Gilmore’s core value of Lifelong Learning.

Congratulations Yasmin! We are so proud of you and grateful to have you on the Gilmore team. 🎓👏

This National Intern Day, we’re proud to recognize Phoenix Ho, Croix Wheatfall, and Camden Griffin for their initiative, adaptability, and meaningful contributions across Gilmore this summer.

Phoenix has supported our Aviation Business Unit by tracking materials and daily activities, updating site layouts, drawings, and 3D models, assisting with quality control, and participating in site walks and safety training. His biggest takeaway has been “the importance of team connectedness” and the role communication plays in keeping a complex project moving forward.

Croix has gained hands-on field experience with our Core Building Group, completing comprehensive LiDAR scans, supporting project closeouts and internal workflows by reviewing RFIs, updating drawing markups, assisting with estimating, and helping with technology setup and IT needs. Through these experiences, he has learned how field conditions become accurate project records and why “strong collaboration and attention to detail are the true backbones of a successful project.”

Camden has managed our front desk while supporting marketing and research efforts, including proposal research and formatting a scope sheet for an upcoming project. His experience has strengthened his organization, research, and professional writing skills while showing him “how much business strategy and marketing goes into construction behind the scenes.”

We are proud of everything Phoenix, Croix, and Camden have contributed and learned this summer. Investing in emerging professionals strengthens the future of our industry, and we are grateful to be part of their journeys.

Please join us in celebrating our interns!

Celebrating 29 years the Gilmore way!

Last Friday, our employees and their families came together at Boondocks for our annual Gilmore Day. Each year, we spend the Friday closest to our anniversary stepping away from the jobsite and office to celebrate the people and the families behind them who make Gilmore Construction what it is.

From arcade games to bowling and go-karting, there was no shortage of laughter and friendly competition! It was a lovely day to connect, enjoy each other’s company, and celebrate another year of building together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, those who couldn’t be with us that day, and every member of the Gilmore family who has contributed to our journey. Twenty-nine years would not have been possible without you.

Here’s to our people, our families, and the memories still ahead!

2,200 cans. Four hours. One shared commitment to our community.

Gilmore Construction was proud to partner with the Colorado Association of Black Professional Engineers and Scientists (CABPES) and for this year’s Canstruction Colorado competition.

Working alongside students and volunteers, our team helped build a summer themed sculpture featuring Colorado’s state bird, the Lark Bunting, and state fish, the Greenback Cutthroat Trout. Every detail was constructed entirely from canned food.

Once the exhibit concludes, the cans will be donated to We Don't Waste and distributed to local nonprofit partners and Coloradans experiencing food insecurity. This milestone reflects the creativity, planning, and collaboration of everyone involved, while supporting a purpose that extends far beyond the finished structure.

Thank you to Walker Sanchez , Myles Pace, Jake Gilmore, Jalaya Gilmore, and Guilmar Villalobos for contributing your time and energy to the build. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the volunteers from Colorado Association of Black Professional Engineers and Scientists (CABPES) and Jacobs who generously shared their time and helped bring this project to life. This accomplishment was truly a team effort.

The sculptures will be on display at Cherry Creek Shopping Center through Sunday, July 26. Be sure to stop by for one final look before the cans begin the most important part of their journey, helping feed our community.

Today, Gilmore Construction is 29 years old!🎉

For us, “A Higher Standard” has never been just a tagline. It is a commitment—to the quality of our work, the way we care for people, the opportunities we create, and the communities we are proud to serve.

Since 1997, Gilmore’s story has been shaped by hardworking employees, trusted clients, dedicated trade partners, and countless supporters who believed in what we were building. Every project carries a piece of that shared story, and every relationship has helped make us who we are today.

We are proud of how far we have come, grateful for everyone who helped us get here, and excited to continue building what’s next together.

Here’s to 29 years of purpose, partnership, and A Higher Standard!🎊

Please join us in congratulating Mikayla Smith on earning her Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Managerial Finance from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business, graduating summa cm laude!

A graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Mikayla has always believed in the value of continuing her education. From early in her academic journey, she knew she wanted to pursue a graduate degree and viewed earning her MBA as an investment in herself and the future of her career.

Throughout the program, Mikayla balanced the demands of a full-time career while excelling academically. Along the way, she expanded her business and leadership knowledge, built meaningful relationships with professors and classmates, and even had the opportunity to travel to Argentina with her cohort, an experience that brought together everything she had learned in a real-world setting.

For Mikayla, earning her MBA is also an important step toward her long-term professional goals. With aspirations of one day stepping into a CFO role, she sees the experience and knowledge gained through the program as a bridge to the next chapter of her career.

Her advice to others considering continuing their education while working full-time? “Don’t wait for the ‘perfect’ time, because it probably won’t ever come.” Mikayla also shared a mindset that kept her motivated throughout the journey: education is an investment, not an expense.

She is especially grateful to her family, friends, and the Gilmore team for supporting her along the way. Most importantly, she honors the memory of her mom, whose belief in her helped carry her through to the finish line.

Mikayla’s accomplishment is a wonderful example of our core value of Lifelong Learning, and we are proud to celebrate this incredible milestone with her.

Congratulations Mikayla! 🎓👏
