Some jobs are easier than others, but this wasn’t one of them lol. Our buddy Daniel is helping to excavate a pool return line for repair. The tree roots growing across the top of the 2” PVC piping applied too much downward pressure causing it to fracture. The presence of several additional pipes in the small area between the tree and stone pathway, required a delicate touch, but we were able to provide a great quality repair. Shout out to Daniel at:

Before and after (Notice how several sections of the old cast iron developed what’s known as channel rot throughout the bottom portion. In some places the pipe has completely deteriorated. The main issue in this case was that the cast iron was improperly installed years ago creating an improper slope for drainage. The water would sit for long periods of time in the bottom of the pipe instead of draining out to the city connection. Blockages would occur frequently requiring a cable machine to be run inside the pipe to clear obstructions. This combination resulted in the bottom of the pipe slowly being eaten away. This has been remedied with brand new 3” PVC piping on proper grade and will ensure efficient drainage and worry free operation for years to come 😊👍

POV: Under slab trench to provide access to drainage piping. Prevents jackhammering of the floor inside home.

We have had the great privilege to help a friend and client replace their old cast iron sanitary sewer line this weekend. Over the years it is common for older cast iron pipes to develop pits and fractures. In this case, the client had been experiencing very frequent clogs. A endoscopic camera inspection revealed the degraded condition of the cast iron drain piping underneath the slab foundation and a plan was formed to provide a professional and long lasting solution.
